id like to know my chances for UC/CSU's too. 2.7 gpa sophmore year, 3.0 gpa junior year, 700 math/680 writing/650 reading comp., from one of the top public schools in california, not much in terms of ec other than theatre. where do i have a chance of getting into?

It really depends on what school you go to. How do you compare with everyone at your school? It also dpeends on what you're majoring in. For example if you plan on majoring in engineering or chemistry at UCB. A 3.5 and a 1900 will probably not get you in. I think UCSD is a fair reach school for you. UCSD looks at GPA more than any other UC, which is what I've seen in their acceptances and their averages. 1900 is equivalent to about a 1260, which if below average at the top UC schools. You should try to get that SAT score up to about 2100 to compensate for your low GPA. At this point, the top 3 UC's are far reaches especially if you are planning on majoring in the big majors (engineering, biochem...), just get the SAT I's up.

i was considering taking the ACT, seeing if I get a higher equivalent score. The ACT score won't be any less respected than an SAT I score, right?

also, just fyi, currently i want to go to SD for music

SD's music program isn't too hard to get into. I can't tell you if its magnificent or not because I would be too subjective; the provost is always hanging around my school and I see him in the library all the time, Cecil Lytle is very friendly, I also know a couple of professors and actually take music theory from one of them, so my bias opinion is that it is a very good program. I would still recommend getting those scores and GPA up, but your chances are better as a music major.
