I just got my notification of acceptance to Biomedical Engineering. Did anyone here receive a Regents scholarship? I didn’t hear anything about getting one, and I was expecting one.

Ya I just received it and says it right below the congratulations.

“You have also been awarded the prestigious Regents Scholarship in recognition of your outstanding academic and personal achievements. As a UC Davis Regents Scholar, you will receive an annual honorarium, priority course registration, extended library privileges, transcript notation indicating your status as a Regents Scholar and an invitation to participate in the Integrated Studies Residential Honors Program.”

UC GPA 4.1ish, SAT 2280, pretty strong extracurriculars & i was personally satisfied with my essays. i have to admit i wasn’t EXPECTING regents but it was a nice surprise.

Asian Male
4.5 UC GPA. 4.0 Unweighted
SAT: 2210 sitting. 2320 superscore (Took the SAT’s twice but UC’s don’t take superscore so i guess it doesn’t matter)
SAT II: 790 Biology E. 790 Math 2
Did three sports: football (won a bunch of team awards), wrestling (co captain) and track
Had a bunch of other volunteer/extracurricular but those weren’t all that impressive.

Hope that helps. Congrats on your admission.

Got the regents at UCD, but will likely turn it down. I prefer UCSB, and I got regents there too.

I had a 4.22 state weighted GPA, 35 ACT, 770 Biology, 700 Chemistry, good EC’s, college courses, 3 - 5’s on AP’s but did not get regents. Is this strange?

D accepted with Regents Scholarship. Same opening lines as MMAfAnatic9.
GPA: 3.92
SAT 700 M 700 CR 780 W

@trickywolffe I have been watching the CC UC threads and the Regents Scholarship at Davis came as a pleasant surprise. There has been no Regents interview from any of the UCs.

My daughter was selected for Regents at UC Davis. She’s a 4.0 unweighted, 9 AP’s, 33 ACT, but with great extra-curriculars: Girls State, RYLA, President of local Youth & Govt. delegation, internship with Congressman, started a leadership/mentoring organization for inner city youth, selected to attend national conferences, plus many academic, citizenship & community service awards/recognitions. She’s also received acceptances from WashU St. Louis and Vanderbilt, and a LIKELY letter from one of the Ivy’s. Still waiting to hear back from a couple of others. So far, it looks like the Ivy trumps all the other acceptances.

I got accepted & got Regents as well! The amount they give you is confusing though. I THINK it’s $7,500 annually, but not too sure… I’m guessing it depends on your financial need.

I think the Regents Scholarship is the same $7,500 for anyone who receives it. Our EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) is higher than the UC Davis cost of attendance, and still received the $7,500. It’s definitely a MERIT scholarship, not need based.
