UC DAVIS 2012 transfer admission

Hello all, I’ve been lurking and thought I’d join the discussion. Question for those newly accepted: Are you able to login to the my.ucdavis.edu site to check e-mail? The site keeps redirecting me to the myadmissions site.

@newaggie:Try logging out of MyAdmissions first and clear your cookies (to make sure you’re really logged out of MyAdmissions) before logging into my.ucdavis.edu. (not newly accepted, btw)

@ Skeptics: The last thing you’ll do at orientation is sign up for classes. You may get to leave early, depending on when your registration time is. Last year, my registration time was at 5pm (orientation ended at 6:30), so I was able to leave early.

Did anyone else get waitlisted? Last year were a lot of students off the waitlist accepted? Davis is one of my top choices, so I really hope I get in.

^^ I know two of my friends who got waitlisted for Davis. Both of their majors involve Biology type/science-y major. I’m not exactly sure what their stats are though. Stay positive!

What was ur gpa??

Stevolol, what was ur gpa?

Congratts!! What was ur gpa monkeyin??

ACCEPTED!
communications major!
not sure where to live yet though…

I’M IN!

I didn’t think I’d be accepted, simply because my GPA was complete **** (it was 2.65 when I applied, and now it’s like a 3.1 or so). I think it’s because I ride horses and I can join their equestrian team – I talked about it in one of my personal statements. I actually got accepted on Friday, but I’m at Coachella (BEST WEEKEND EVER!) so I haven’t really had time to do anything.

How long was the actual orientation? Did it really go all day? The thing I read said 7:30-6:30 (am to pm)

@ Skeptics: No. Your orientation ends when you sign up for classes. Mine was from 8am-6:30pm, but orientation for my group officially ended at 5pm when it was time for us to register for classes (and your orientation leader will help you with that). Last year, the last hour was just US Bank giving info, but that was optional, and since US Bank closed their UCD campus branch, who knows what the last hour would be on.

Oh, another thing. Depending on the time they give you (during orientation) to meet your faculty advisor, you may have to miss out on some information sessions—for example, I had to miss the info session on Student Housing because my assigned time to meet my faculty advisor clashed with the info session, and they stress that you MUST go meet your faculty advisor above all other things.

Ok, just to be clear, it is roughly an 8 hour process. Yes or no? Unfortunately my dog isn’t allowed in student housing so I’ll have to find a place on my own. Any suggestions? I would like to be close enough to not have to drive (I will ride my bike) and I would prefer to live as close as possible. Uh…and I would like to be on the campus side of the feeway, I think.

I already know about websites that explain “stuff” but since you live there now I figure you’re as good as those or better even.

Uh, how did you get 8 hour process out of that? But it’s longer than 6 hours, that’s for sure.

For housing close to campus that allows dogs and have overall good reviews, try Hanover Place Apartments (located only a mile away from campus, approx. 10 minutes–it’s an easy bike ride, and while my suitemates and I live in Cuarto–currently the transfer dorm for the 2011-2012 year–we have made the trip up here to get boba at Quickly’s right across the street from Hanover Place) or The Arbor (1.3 mi to the Memorial Union according to Google Maps and close to downtown Davis).

Woo hoo! Got accepted to Davis as a Chemical Engineering major! Still waiting on UCI though. I have a dog as well Skeptic, any chances we could consider being housemates?

I live in Berkeley. “Roughly” was the key word. So, if I drive up there it will take me an entire day (probably more than 8 hours with traffic). I appreciate the info, I just wanted to make sure I understood the time frame. I could not tell if several orientations were going on between the stated time or if it was a whole day thing.

Thanks again!

Oh yeah, I looked at the Arbors last time I was there but it feels a little “hidden” but that may be where I end up.

I’m up for having roommates so long as no one tries to feed my dog or get him drunk/high…what kind of dog do you have? Mine is a 15lb JRT with all his manly parts.

what were your stats?

Congrats to everyone who has been admitted! I was accepted to UCD as a Psychology major (first choice, no tag). I applied to all the UC campuses and have been accepted to UCM, UCR, and UCSC. I was rejected from UCLA (which I expected because of my low gpa). I’m still waiting on UCI, UCB, UCSD, and UCSB. I feel like I might still have a chance for UCI and UCSB if i’m lucky. At the time of application, I had a 2.9 gpa. Right now it is a 3.1 (still low). I think I got in because of my personal statement, which I have been told is very good. Also, I had ***** grades before (lots of C’s, a few D’s, and an F), mostly in my history classes. I re-took the D and F classes. I used to be a history major but changed to psychology because I became hooked after taking one class. All my grades pertaining to the psych major are very good(all A’s and one or two B’s) which is another reason why I think I was accepted to UCD. I made sure to write about going from C/D grades to becoming an A student in my personal statement.

You know what guys. I’m again starting to consider going to UC Davis over UCLA. This is a gut wrenching decision I have to make =[
