@stanufb I’m actually not sure! I was supposed to meet with my counselor today and ask them, but they didn’t show. I rescheduled for Monday. Hopefully, I’ll know by then! If anything, you could maybe complete those units at a UC close to you because I have a friend from Santa Barbara going to Davis who took classes at UCSB over the summer. I’ll inform you once I ask my counselor.
@cyclicalhype@KK456 I took note of that a few months back and asked someone during a UC workshop. They said that that section used to be on the application, but no longer was! So basically the website wasn’t updated, according to the woman at the workshop. I believed her because she used to be a UCLA admissions officer and works at my cc’s transfer center, but I’d take it with a grain of salt and contact them, just in case! I noted the TAG on a separate section of my app, but I’m still going to contact them. Good luck you two!
@doihaveashot2016 No, it has to be completed in spring 2017 in order for it to be considered at all. I know, bummer. Screwed me over a bit too. I met with the davis rep at my CC today so I’m 99% sure I’m right. Hope it helps.
edit: darn it delete this I didn’t see the other person had already replied. I’m new here.
hey @OnlyTheStrong , I’m applying for computational stats. I don’t meet many stats majors, so hi! the UC info portal said that they have an 80% admit rate for stats majors in fall 2016 so I feel pretty good about both our chances. Hope you see this post lol.
@KeepaSmile I’m a stats major too, just got an account and just saw this thread and just saw your post. LMK if you get in. What prompted you to switch to stats?
@doihaveashot2016@cyclicalhype I just called their admissions and the guy on the phone told me it was fine that I didn’t list my TAG on the normal application and that they know that I have a TAG but he also kind of rushed me off the phone in less than 20 seconds so that’s also not fully reassuring lol
@doihaveashot2016 I think you can take CC classes over the summer, but IGETC classes have to be completed this semester. But if you’re going in to ask, good, and just tell me what you find out.
A person can apply with partial IGETC in most cases. (I dont know your circumstances.) If you do that, you are advised to finish at the CCC in summer, if accepted.
You can also take extra courses in summer as long as you have fulfilled the major req by spring. So, for instance, if you need 5 of 7 major courses to be considered, and you are accepted, you could take the other two in summer at a CCC, with UC approval.
Major: International Relations
GPA: 3.1
Pre-Reqs: Spring 2017
IGETC: Spring 2017
Got accepted to: SLO, Cal poly Pomona, East bay.
Waiting on: UC Davis, UCR, UCSC.
Good luck all!
Major: Material Science and Engineering
GPA: 3.1
Pre-Reqs: missing circuits
IGETC: all but one
EC’s: MESA, SHPE, internship related to major
Got accepted to: SLO, SJSU, CSULB, CSUN
Waiting on: All UC’s, Chico, Pomona, SDSU.
Major: Pharmaceutical Chemistry
GPA: 3.8 when I applied around a 3.57 now
Pre-Reqs: Missing one
IGETC: Done and certified
TAG: Approved for Fall 2017
EC’s: Work. Not much tbh.
Waiting on: Davis and Riverside
Switching career paths and going for nursing so I’m dropping my last pre req that I’m taking right now. Contract’s going to be broken and TAG most likely revoked, but I can always retake the pre req and apply again next year. Good luck to you future Aggies!
@enpz45 I spoke with one of the counselors at my CC and they said that if you didn’t get notification that your TAG was denied, then it was a yes; however, I have heard conflicting info. For now, I’m going to think positive and say that it’s a yes. Lol.
@Shytstorm Thanks! As of today, I have been denied acceptance at SDSU. Rejection isn’t a great feeling, especially considering it’s my first admissions decision to come out; howevever, I’ll just think positive thoughts about UCD and UCSB.
Major: Communications
GPA: 3.57
TAG: N/A
IGETC: Will be done by Spring 2017
Major Prereqs: I have completed all of them except one and that’s what I’m mostly worried about, I didn’t realize that Intro to Sociology was a prereq for UC’s communications majors so I don’t know how far that will set me back.
ECs: AIFS Study Abroad in Fall 2015, Internship for the Disney College Program Fall 2016, Rotaract Club, Dance Club, Dance TA, Ceres Community Project Volunteer, Food Bank Volunteer, Leads of school plays throughout high school, Photography Club
Other Schools applied: UCSD, Cal Poly Pomona, UGA, CSU Chico, CSU Fullerton, OSU
Accepted: Cal Poly Pomona, UGA
If anyone has any info on whether or not my major prereqs will set me back or if anything else would be an issue please let me know! UC Davis is my first choice for schools!
@enpz45 I hope so as well. Regardless of what information is actually correct, I am sure that as long as you have the GPA they ask for and any classes they require, your TAG will be/is accepted. Best of luck to you!
