UC Davis admissions!

<p>Go Aggies!!!!!! :-)</p>

<p>is there anything to do in UC Davis?</p>

<p>besides milking the cows</p>

<p>is there anything to do in UC Davis?</p>

<p>besides milking the cows</p>

<hr>

<p>drinking their milk?</p>

<p>driving down to San Francisco which is only one hour away, camping or snowboarind at lake tahoe, playin B-Ball at the ARC (the brand new recreation center) the list goes on, and oh yeah Cow tipping.</p>

<p>Please don't tip the cows more than 20%. The waiters will get jealous.</p>

<p>Dang I made UC Davis too!! I am a little bit hesitant on going there because I hear how isolated the city of Davis is and doesn't isolated also mean conservative (including girls)? Feel free to convince me. ahah</p>

<p>BTW. i am ****ed off how the policy of UCD is that freshmens aren't allowed to have cars, HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET AROUND TO SAC N SF OR EVEN FURTHER TO DO OTHER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES?!?</p>

<p>isn't uc davis aggies considered a prestigious uc?</p>

<p>i mean obviously u can't compare it to the likes of ucberkeley, ucla, or even ucsd</p>

<p>The student body for davis is generally fairly liberal, a large percent of the students come from the bay area so they tend to not be conservative. There is also a good amount of students that are conservative so it's a nice mix.</p>

<p>Oh and amtrak is a great way to get to sacramento or san fran, last summer I used it every weekend to come back to davis from berkeley.</p>

<p>amtrak? sweet!</p>

<p>There's also a bus that's goes to the berkeley campus from the davis campus and from there you can use bart. To learn more goto <a href="http://daviswiki.org/index.cgi/Amtrak%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://daviswiki.org/index.cgi/Amtrak&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>ME TOO, I am in too:)</p>

<p>congrats to all the UC Davis applicants!
My cousin goes to UC Davis right now and she really enjoys it. From UC Davis, you can get to San Francisco easily and there are TONS to do around there. Remember: Davis is there to accomodate the students, so there are students EVERYWHERE and it is truly a college town.</p>

<p>Good luck to everyone!
And enjoy Davis!</p>

<p>I'm in. ^^ Is the smell really bad from the dorms there?</p>

<p>dood which is better.. irvine or davis T_TTTT GOSH SO HARD TO DECIDE.. </p>

<p>wut should i do under bio major.. where to go.</p>

<p>I'm still waiting for my friend's decision on Irvine T_T If he ends up there we'll go together</p>

<p>"dood which is better.. irvine or davis T_TTTT GOSH SO HARD TO DECIDE..</p>

<p>wut should i do under bio major.. where to go."</p>

<p>I'm in the exact same situation as you are, desijanjsta. Someone please enlighten us.</p>

<p>Although I am learning towards Irvine.</p>

<p>goooo aggies?</p>

<p>UCI has a great campus, don't listen to people who say it's anti-social. College is what you make of it. Go make some friends and have fun. Simple as that.</p>

<p>Status still pending....</p>

<p>UC Davis graduates the highest number of Bio Sci majors than any other college.
My admitedly biased comparison of UC Davis and UCI, but I've been to both schools..chose Davis over Irvine, and have many friends at Irvine.
CAMPUS:
-UC Irvine has a very nice campus, it is very new, with very nice bulidings. It is much more compact than UCD...so it is technically easier to get to class once on campus. Downside, parking is a b*tch since all most of the students commute or drive to school that aren't freshman. Traffic can also be very bad.
- UC Davis is the 2nd oldest UC...even older than UCLA...the campus is huge and sprwaling...with buildings from all different decades. Creates nice mesh of acticuture...the campus is very GREEN in spring and summer...lots of trees creatings loads of shade. BIKES! Even though campus is huge, with a bike (the trademark of Davis) I can make it to any class in less than 5 minutes. Also of note Unitrans is a student ran Bus service, it takes pedistrians everywhere through the campus and ALSO picks up students who live in apartments of campus. THIS SERVICE IS FREEE! Traffic is barely anything as so many students either bike or take Unitrans, even if your upper classmen.
DORM LIFE:
- UC Davis has been making new dorms like crazy...Tercero will be opening thier new dorms next year. Downside of living in Tercero, that is the only location on campus where people can actually smell the cow dung. Segundo, has got new dorms and old dorms, PLUS new DC...this is huge...DC food is very tolerable at Davis. Cuarto is located a block or two of campus and is for people looking for a quiter dorm scene, but it has pools and jacuzzis.
- UC Irvine- With so many students going home dorms die on the weekends. Other than that some dorms have an extreme sense of community such as Sierra. DC is very not friendly to guests...if you have friends visiting Irvine you cannot swipe them in..when your a frosh you'll realilze how much this policy sucks.
CAMPUS LIFE:
- Irvine, though may be a great school, and people can still find friends since it is college...IS A Coumuter schoool! The socal kids go home alot, if your from norcal you may find yourself bored on the weekends. Like any school there is a large number of clubs and IMs. THe sense of community does not really exist to the level of Davis.
- Campus life is what Davis prides itself on. From our Chancellor to our friggin ID cards, COMMUNITY is emphasized at Davis. I don't know what it is, we're the smart kids, that didn't want to go to the party school (UCSB), don't stress about every test and grade (UCB or UCLA), and enjoy the laid back life that is living in a town like Davis. You'll find most students at Davis to be extremely appproachable and friendly. The guys open the doors for the girls, frisbees are flying on our immense open spaces, it is very refresing
COLLEGE LIFE:
- Irvine, the greek system at irvine isnt very noteworthy. THe party scene is pretty bad if you don't know people (if your a frosh basically). IMs are there, but not nearly to the level of Davis. Though Irvine is D1...the CIA (completely insane anteaters) is a rip off of the Davis Aggie Pack and is not nearly as successful. They also don't have a football team, which means that Irvine wll never really be a big time sports school. Zot Zot...or whateva
- Ahh Davis, home to the largest student spirit organization in the nation...The Aggie Pack. With our teams going D1 and the fact we have FOOTBALL, even if your not into sports AGGIE PRIDE will take over. ALL GAMES ARE FREE and that feeling of cheering as your UC DAVIS football team pounds it in the endzone is what college is all about. We're building a new stadium, seriouly past Davis alumni would KILL to be in your position. A freshman who will see the new stadium and our D1 calibur teams...so LUCKY. Our greek scene is pretty large (MTV filmed Soritly Life here), so the parties aren't too hard to find. But it isn't to the level, where the only thing to do is party. And everyone pretty much stays on the weekends, you don't wanna miss out on all the cool campus events. WIth all our open space and the new ARC, our Intramurals are seriously out of this world. Everyone does IMs, they are also FREE, and have levels so that everyone can play.</p>

<p>My "personal" conclusion:
I could not see myself at Irvine and having nearly as good as a time as i'm having in Davis. The commuter school does not sound like my cup of tea, I'm going to college for the experience, and though you can experience it at Irvine, Davis provides the PERFECT and BEST college experience in the UC System. I've debated my brother on this issue with Cal, it's a pretty even arguement there...but between IRVINE and DAVIS...DAVIS WINS hands down in college experience. You talk to Davis students you'll find that a vast majority not only like Davis, but LOVE IT.</p>
