Essays- I attended UC Berkeley’s college application seminar to understand what the UCs were looking for in the Personal Insight questions. The advice that worked for me was answering the questions like interview questions: straightforwardly and with little flourish due to the limited words for each. These essays weren’t a literary masterpiece but I feel that they were direct and encompassed the unique aspects of my personality.
Country- US (CA)
Ethnicity- Filipino (Asian)
Gender- Female

Reasons I think I got in- Good test scores, clear essays, demonstrated dedication to a few ECs rather than spreading myself too thin for the sake of filling out the EC section

Accepted - UCSD, King’s College in NYC, King’s College London
Waiting On- Claremont McKenna, USC, Northwestern, UChicago, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSB, Georgetown, WUSTL, 7 Ivies

I already posted in this thread when I was accepted but I thought I’d include my stats for any future applicants sifting through. Congrats to everyone and good luck for all the other apps you’re waiting on!

Accepted to UCSD for Poli Sci.Davis was my first choice and I thought the results would be reversed. Maybe Davis puts more emphasis on GPA? I know someone who got into UCSD for CS last year with < 4.0, but 800M and lots of CS ECs.

Did everyone get invited to a meet and greet reception in their area?

has anyone received mail from davis? I just got mine from ucsc and was wondering whether davis has sent it out yet.

@Zdawg99 I believe all (in state?) accepted applicants have been invited to them. At least I have
@ndrhya I haven’t yet

International here, and I got invited to a reception in Malaysia even though I live in a country far away from Malaysia lol. The mail was also addressed to a totally different person.
When I clicked on the link for registration, however, I saw a list of receptions, one of which was in my country. So yea.

Okay I received 3 emails and it goes something like this:

One email was addressed to some random name (lets call them RandomName1) and told me that UC Davis Welcome Dinner in Kuala Lumpur was full and told me to verify the maximum number of guests for my event. Also mentioned that additional details were there within Hobsons (whatever that is)

(I don't even live anywhere near Malaysia)

Another email addressed in my name congratulated me on my upcoming event in Kuala Lumpur. I think they've mistaken me for some sort of representative instead of an admitted student lol.

Finally, I got an email (this one was meant for me) inviting me to register for upcoming events and when I clicked on the link, I saw a list of places where this was being held (Malaysia was in the list along with the country I live in)
This email was signed by RandomName1

@InfiniteLibrary what a nightmare. Seems like Regina all over again. 8-}

I was rejected.

3.83 UC GPA; 1090 New SAT; 23 ACT.

I’m kinda bummed because I loved the college town vibe that UC Davis had.

Hi I’m an international student
I got accepted into UCD for CS major
Will I get an acceptance letter in my post as well ? Or do only in state students receive it ?

We are in-state and we have not received anything in mail either. Dont’ know the timeframe on when (if) they would be sent.

@roonilwazlib100 @sham289 @Madrocks I saw this a post on the uc davis facebook page that said “The Aggie Class of 2021 just received their acceptance letters and will soon be headed to UC Davis.”
and assumed that they would be sending acceptance letters/ mail. Not sure for international students though.

@ndrhya They meant email in which case we did get them.

When do they send out the actual acceptance packages in the mail? DO they even send them?

@RoonilWazlib99 UCI did send them so I expected Davis to follow, but nothing so far. I read somewhere that SD does send packages and today in SB announcement they said that we will get a large white envelope in the next 1-2 weeks. I haven’t heard anything about SC and Riverside.

3.8 W GPA
31 ACT
Had upward trend for GPA
Very Strong essays in my opinion.
Showed commitment to Rugby team and other Ecs
Honestly surprised I got in. Stats are low.
