@Gweetarpicker@Itsmejack: Local path is through the HS and it will be listed on your UC application at the bottom if you are ELC.
Statewide path is a UCI score calculation which uses GPA and test scores. If there are no test scores to report, I would assume that the Statewide path top 9% could not be then calculated and not considered.
ELC only guarantees UC Merced if there is room and the # of ELC referrals has been dropping as enrollment at UCM has increased.
Itsmejack, you meant UC Capped GPA can have upto 8 extra semester points for AP/Honor classes taken in 10th and 11th grade. 9th grade is not even counted.
Most California HS submitted the data to UC for the top 15% of the Jr year. I talked to my counselor on this. It doesnt matter if its not in the transcript. The data received from the HS is then used by UC to determine the top 9% for ELC.
D accepted for Environmental Science, in state, GPA 3.75, 4.15, 4.55. 10 AP, 6 Honors, above avg EC with leadership, multi-sport. We felt her essays were especially good.
I didnt ask but I would guess so. When I submitted my application on 11/2, I was notified that I am an ELC eligible (top 9%). Unless they compiled the data that fast, I would think they are using previous year data.
For ELC, they use historic GPA information and every couple of years, your HS will be asked for an update.
See Below:
We will identify the top 9 percent of students based on GPA in UC-approved coursework completed in the 10th and 11th grades. To be considered for ELC, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and complete the following A-G courses prior to your senior year:
History 1 year
English 2 years
Mathematics 2 years
Science 1 year
Language other than English 1 year
Other A-G courses
(chosen from the subjects listed above or another course approved by the university) 4 years
After you enter your coursework and grades in the UC application, weâll compare your GPA to the historic top GPA for your school. If you meet or exceed that GPA, youâll be designated ELC and weâll add a note to your application.
I was wondering why my son did not get the designation. He had all As and had 8 semesters of weighted classes. (It is based on weighted capped.) Spring semester was P/NP so they did not get a chance to raise their GPAs with more 5s. So they could not measure up compared to last years GPAs. I asked the school counseling office and they did not know anything. I did not think it was worth pursuing but I have been curious.
Sorry to hear that. I am in the same predicament with Spring changed to P/NP. I wrote a letter to my the school district president. Anyway, I bugged my counselor so much that we are in a first name basis and she spilled the whole process with me.
Under special circumstances. I mentioned that I got straight As for all my classes in the Spring semester before the change to P/NP. I guess it doesnt matter.
