**uc davis class of 2025 discussion**

Oh, forgot to mention he did apply ASU, and was accepted to honor college in 2 days with $15k per year scholarship. Maybe our kids can be roommates if they end up both go ASU.

Do you have a good option?

Looking like Barrett right now. Visiting the campus next week.

Personally, regardless of the monetary award, I think Barrett would be a much better situation for him. Tons of academic resources/opportunities, student support services, his own bedroom in a suite during freshman year and his own bedroom/bathroom in a full sized apartment reserved for upper division honors students, big time sporting events to attend and a lot more.

dang you have super good stats. cannot believe the rejection

dang this cannot be true

Sorry you’re so sad. It’s understandable, BUT it will be short-lived. You will pivot and thrive where you land.

Like the other poster who shared about her nephew, I think it was, my son didn’t love any of his options as a senior in high school. He committed to one, but wasn’t thrilled. A month or so down the road he withdrew his acceptance and went the CC route. It could not have been better for him. When applying as a transfer, he got into every UC he applied to, and all but one of the other schools he applied to, and he applied to almost all the best schools for his major. And what was cool about that is that by the time he was applying to CC he knew what he wanted to do and was able to better target the right schools for his intended major. And, ya know, a lot of his friends who were supposedly going off to school didn’t, some did, but didn’t do well, and came back. He had amazing opportunities at CC, that allowed him to go to a great school now, AND to be well-prepared for success there, AND earned some scholarships.

And he is now, even with the pandemic, having that college experience he wanted.

Trust me when I say the college decision thing won’t be nearly as important as it is now once you get away from all the talk about it in your present school. It hurts now, no doubt, but it’ll all be just fine. Oh, and you can get a transfer guarantee for Davis if you decide to go the CC route.

Best wishes in all!!

I’m a biology major so far have UW seattle, UC Davis, and Pitts (plus honors college and 2k/yr as an international student money is rare). I cannot give up none of them. Desperate in need of advices right now. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

My stats definitely dragged me down. I had ambitious coursework but couldn’t perform. Don’t think I was even top 10% in my class. Friends got in though so I am happy for them.

definitely don’t have to be in the top 10% of your class to get in though

jeez. i heard uc don’t do yield protection? maybe ucla and ucb will accept him he seems like a strong fit fs. i got accepted but i was literally in the target range not way above it

@juediwushi I would pick the UW. I think it has amazing support network for int’l students and amazing bio research opportunities and biotech job market in the Seattle area.

why SLO over UCs?
