Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:

I think I was accepted because I have had a pretty consistent set of grades in high school. I had nothing but A’s until my senior year, and the only reason my grades fell this year was because I took two semesters worth of classes at OSU, with little in the way of an introduction to not overloading oneself with coursework, and to not overestimating one’s ability. I think my personal statements were relatively well written as well. It’d be nice to say that my race (Black) and gender (girl) didn’t have an effect on it, but considering those two things and my choice in major, they played some role in it. However, those were by no means the most important things, and I don’t think I was explicitly accepted because of them.

For high school students and even middle school students and parents, I second what @beaglebaseball47 said. Take some college courses during school so you can learn how to study, how to schedule yourself (so you won’t be overwhelmed), and because they probably treat prior coursework as AP work. It’s not as hard as it seems, and even if you have a hard time adjusting like I did, you get the experience and wisdom of having done it before.
