@gosackings and @xjitfire my D waitlisted for BME with 2200 sat, 4.3 gpa excellent EC’s strong essays. Davis is a great school gosackings!

Extremely happy that I got accepted!
Honestly, don’t give up no matter what happens. I know this is a typical quote everybody says, but it’s true!
I’ve struggled a lot throughout the years as a first-generation student,low-income and a completely lost person in high school who didn’t know what to do to get to college. Not sounding super religious, but honestly, I doubted God at times when my junior year had showed three B’s first semester and then 2 B’s the second semester. I honestly felt, I wouldn’t get into college, but I DID! Not only into here, but others as well.Maybe, there is a God.

Ok,after my lecture…

-I was rejected by my first choice school and ran into depressed mode and forgot that I had other colleges that could value me and know that I have a capability of doing well in school. Somebody recognized that despite being low-income, I should be given a chance. Not only because of my disadvantages, but also because of my STRENGTHS!You all have it!
I came at college confidential everyday and felt that there are so many better students than me. They all have such great SAT Scores, but let’s face it. Everybody is different and everybody has a little luck!:)

Stats:
Asian Indian
3.7UW
4.5 UC G.P.A
1980 SAT Score- Writing only helped to raise my score into 1900 range.
29 ACT score
Major:Neurobiology!
If I made it after struggling and seeing my parents struggle, I’ve finally seen some happiness!
You will see happiness too!
I hope I have enough money to pay!:P

Sincerely,
A Northern Californian

In-State Student
UW GPA: 3.42
ACT: 34

@seashell - my only experience with the waitlist was 4 years ago so take it for what its worth. Son was waitlisted for mechanical engineering. He was notified on May 5 that he made if off the waitlist and had 3 days to accept or decline. He accepted and had to notify UCSB that he changed his mind. I think I read at the time that about half the kids waitlisted fill out the form and short statement to stay on the waitlist. So if your child is truly interested in the school, I would go for it. My personal opinion is that the schools want to make sure they don’t over enroll, so use the waitlist a lot more now to manage it.
