UC Davis dorms, the order of preferences

anyone applying for a theme program?

Tercero is closer to engineering.

Which one smells like cow? And can some one compare a suite and a dorm?

Also, any one have a personal story about a situation like this… I have a couple of my friends going to Davis with me. But, they are not like my BEST friends, I just know them. I kind of wanted to meet new people and make new friends. Would it not be the best college experience to meet up with others?

Tercero smells like cow every now and then, but they are getting beautiful dorms that will be open Fall quarter! It’s pretty much a trade-off. Haha.

The first day I moved into the dorms, I hung out with my high school friends at dinner, and then met up some new friends that I found on Facebook. It isn’t too hard to have the best of both worlds. Sooner or later, you’ll start to hang out with one over the other, so do what feels right to you. :). Definitely make friends with your roommate and neighbors so you all can go eat at the DC together.

We don’t get to choose which residence hall we live in. All transfers who decide to live in residence halls are confined to Castillian Hall, which is in the Cuarto Area: [UC Davis Student Housing: Transfer Student Residence Hall Option](http://www.housing.ucdavis.edu/prospective/transfers_2010_RH.asp)
Bummer, because I’m a relatively young transfer and I’m basically the same age as the freshmen…

^again, castilian hall closing this spring. new res halls in tercero opening fall. idk where transfers can dorm but there are apartments on and off campus reserved for them.

freshman dont get to choose, but you pick 3 different combinations of your preferences for:

res area (tercero/segundo/cuarto)
single/double/triple/quad
coed/gender
theme program

^that’s actually very relieving to know. I guess I’ll try for Segundo or Tercero then (as long as I don’t have to be with any antisocial transfer students…).
Thanks!

but still most importantly wherever we can party get wasted blazed hammered **** hamboned know what i’m saying. all the people who wanna party

Castilian won’t be closing until next spring. I’m also a transfer student for fall 2010 and my counselor says castilian will be m best bet, over apartments. Rather unfortunate for a first year student, but I guess it gives me more incentive to study. :/

Can I just Segundo for 1, 2 and 3. Or do I have to list all 3 areas?

You have to rank the three.

o ok.

What meal plan is better? Like how much do you get for a 180 and a 150?

Also, what is a gold card? Just like a debit card? Any advantages?

Someone suggested either 180 or 150 (I’d go with 180) and the Aggie 100 so you can spend it (like a debit card) at the Silo and around campus without using your own cash/meal swipes.

Yeah, I am thinking 180. I can always down grade, and transfer to next quarter.

As far as the cards, I am not sure; I have a credit card.

If you’re planning on going home regularly (~once a month) and bringing up food… don’t get any higher than 120. I dunno, maybe it’s 'cause I’m a girl and I don’t eat as much, but I’ve still got 150-160 swipes left after I downgraded from 120 to 90 after first quarter, and this includes swiping several upperclassmen in almost weekly. My other friend had the same meal plans (but with no Gold Plus) as I did and she eats at the DC a lot more, but she still has around 100 swipes left, and she swipes some upperclassmen in as well. The quarter’s more than halfway over. There are lots of places off campus to eat around Davis. Most people get pretty tired of DC food too. It’s not (usually) horrible, but it gets repetitive after a while.

Having Gold Plus is kinda like having a debit card, yeah. They swipe your ID card when you pay for stuff at the Silo or something. I think it’s pretty convenient; you don’t have to worry about having cash on you (except at the MU :frowning: I don’t see why they can’t accept it) and some places give either a 10% discount or make the purchase tax-free when you pay with Gold Plus.

Oh. Hmm, I don’t know. Ill probably go home once in a while. Like how many swipes does 150 and 180 give u? How much food? Isn’t it like swipe, go in, eat all you want, leave?

yes^

180 swipes=180 meals
180 does not get you all the way thru the quarter if you eat 3 meals a day in the dc every day. i’m weird in that i like to eat all my meals in the dc, but if you do the math you will see what i mean.
it comes out to roughly 4 meals outside the dc (or 4 brunches) per week for the 180 to last you.

Well I am pretty sure i will at least eat two meals at DC every day, I don’t know about 3. I will probably go home once in a while. But I think I might just bring snacks from home, not sure about full meals.

But either way, you think 180 is a good investment for a incoming freshman? I did see that you can down grade later on, also it does transfer.

How much money is 150 and 180?

bumppp. 10 char

Cuarto

Segundo

Tercero

I’m also thinking of a 150. I doubt I’ll be bringing meals up (where will I heat up Indian food:P) but I may bring up snacks, water, etc.
