I am going to davis this coming year, and i dont know if i should live in a themed dorm or not. I am very focused on my studies, but i do like to party and drink every weekend, or at least have the opportunity to party available to me. I like the fact that i will get to know the engineers, and we’ll become a tight knit community, and also i love that we would do cool things like an egg drop competition, but im just scared that the people i will be with will be kinda nerdy in that they JUST study, and that there rules will be very strict. I dont mind the regular quiet hours in the dorms, cause even if its noisy im sure theres another place i can study. What are your opinions and experience with the matter?

well im considering uc davis, and most likely going there and its for engineering. I wouldn’t consider myself someone that just studies all day lol i think ur just stuck with the misconception of engineers. They are really hard workers but if im going im not considering study ALL the time haha. And im pretty sure there will be plenty of places to study.

From what I can tell, the engineering floor this year is pretty social. And you can always hang out with people from other floors/buildings if you don’t click with anyone on your floor.

However, keep in mind that virtually everyone on the engineering floor will be taking the same few classes. While it will be nice to form study groups, it’s nice having an array of majors. Although everyone on my floor seems to be engineering or bio.
