Hello All,
I am currently in my fourth year at UC Davis and I was planning on graduating this summer. However, I just found out I need to return next year for two quarters. The priority deadline for fafsa was March 2 but I did not submit until today, April 10.
Does anyone know how much aid I can still be eligible for with such a late submission? I’m really worried right now and could use any sign of relief.
Are there any steps that I can take to increase my chances of receiving full aid?
Thanks!
You need to contact the UCD financial aid office ASAP and ask them.
The late submission will not impact your eligibility for federal aid such as Pell grant and/or federal direct loans. But some federal programs (such as SEOG) allocate only limited funds to each college, so you’d likely be out of the running for those.
I’m not aware that Cal Grant funds are even available beyond four years, unless you’re getting your teaching credential, in which case the grant can be extended to five years.
The remaining source of funding would be a UCD grant . . . and whether or not that’s available to you is a question you need to ask the UCD FA office.
P.S. The one other thing you can do is contact your department to find out if there are any departmental scholarships you may be eligible for.
Good luck!!!
