**UC Davis Fall 2013 Transfer Decisions**

2013 - UCLA - Checking Status w/ URSA

It’s very likely that you’ve been rejected if you can see the appeal form. Which other schools did you apply to?

None, it’s my dream school  I live less than an hour from campus and its only half an hour from work… Well perhaps an appeal but I heard they aren’t really ever granted… Praying!!!

You only applied to one school? What was your back up plan if you didn’t get in?

To wait and reaplly next fall  It’s my dream school, I’ll be able to commute (I’m 30 with a family). I’ve been through this before, was rejected in 2010 and fixed everything and waited to reapply. I was accepted to Sac State and turned it down for Davis. My heart is set on Davis and I feel its worth waiting for, praying its God’s will I’ll be accepted this term and not have to wait for another full year! yikes!

@fitforfun: I think you’re confusing yourself over your 1st choice major vs your 2nd choice major. You can’t apply for a “minor” during the application process. What you probably did was put down Communications as your 1st choice major, and Sociology as your 2nd choice major.

With that being said, Davis actually doesn’t take your 2nd choice major into consideration. I found out the hard way last year when i applied as a freshman. I put down my 1st choice major as Bio (impacted as hell) and I put down Undeclared as my 2nd choice major, with the expectation that I would atleast get in as Undeclared if I didn’t get into Bio. Unfortunately, Davis pretty much threw my application out the moment they rejected me from Bio. I called them asked them why I wasn’t considered for my 2nd choice major and they told me that they simply didn’t have any space to consider it. They also told me that they used to admit students into their alternate major back in the pre-2009 years, but space limitations (due to budget cuts) forced them to stop doing so. :/

Sorry for being so blunt, but I just dont want you to get your hopes up and end up having them crushed tomorrow. Just out of curiosity though, when did you check the Appeal form? Davis actually started giving everyone a blank page about 2 days ago (they found out about this trick). Are you still able to see the appeal form right now?

Wait, that’s why they got rid of it? I always though schools knew about, but didn’t care about tricks, at least it seems like UCLA doesn’t.

@Cinnabon,

You’re right! Soc as secondary, Spanish as minor!

It was actually a UC Davis counselor at the recent Discover Davis day that told me about getting in for Soc, not that she’s not wrong…

The appeal form I saw it and actually submitted it. This was before I knew what was going on and I was confused about why in the world it was there before I had even received a decision. So I wrote the essay (350 words or less) asking them to reconsider and now it shows “Your appeal has been received” and a place is provided to upload up to 10 supporting docs. I want to say sometime last week or week before I did this and I have until May 15 to get the docs in such as recommendations or updated transcript or whatever.

Well this is sad if they don’t look at Sociology I’ll have to wait another year! :frowning: Could be worse…

Thank you for your input guy! Hope this info was helpful!

I tried doing the UCLA tricks but they’re too confusing! Blah ill just wait another day lol

@fitforfun: Well… Now we know how Davis found out about the loophole. If people submitted appeals before decisions even came out, then it’d be pretty obvious to them on what was going on. But yeah dude, for next year, try to bring your GPA up to a 3.0+, apply to Soc as your first choice major, and you should be golden. You can always switch to Communication after you get into Soc next year. Good luck!

hahaha at least we know the loophole works!!! ONE MORE DAY ITS KILLING MEEE

Can’t wait!!!

Anyone know what time they are releasing decisions?

Decisions will be posted on MyAdmissions between 4pm and 5pm. You’ll probably get an email around 7pm.

So am I not able to find out a clue about my possible admission status if the Appeals trick shows nothing but a blank page and I didn’t apply for FAFSA?

Thanks cinnabon1234!

^Unfortunately, no. They shut down the appeals page a few days ago and the FAFSA trick only works if you applied for FAFSA.

@cinnabon thanks. is it possible we get an email tmrw if we didn’t get accepted?

Do you think the site will crash from so many people checking?

@GiantsFan: You’ll have an email sent to you regardless of your admission decision. It’ll say whether you’ve been accepted, rejected, or waitlisted.

@jrlovessettle: No, the site most likely won’t crash. I checked my status last year as a freshman, the moment they released decisions. I was literally hitting refresh every 1 minute until MyAdmissions finally updated around 4:15pm. Considering the fact that there are almost 60,000 freshman applicants vs 14,000 transfers and the site didn’t crash for them, I highly doubt the site will crash for us.
