We need another one of these posts as it is nearing down to our decision date and I have not seen one that is for 2014 Transfer decisions! It is supposed to be on April 19th and I'm still pretty nervous. I have a TAG, but I switched community colleges and that could cause a lot of discrepancies with financial aid especially.

Transfer GPA: 3.75
Psychology major

Once we start getting the official decisions on the 19th, please post whether you're accepted or rejected (or waitlisted), whether the FAFSA trick showed "Satisfied" or "Not Satisfied", and whether you were able to view the appeals form or received the "Sorry" message. Mine says Attention!: Financial Aid Award Package Not Awarded. I'm guessing since it's too early and an official decision hasn't been made. Can't wait to see all of your replies! :-h

I really like the batch system , since i was in the first batch for both schools that used them.
If not, I would hate batch system too.

Oh, is it the 18th? I guess I was mistaken from last year’s decision date! Good, I don’t have to wait any longer!
My friend got her freshman decision March 14th. What is the batch system? I’ve never heard of that before #-o

18 more days I can’t wait to hear back from them, although I did TAG. I just want it to be official and see the word admitted on their portal!

Who’s just as anxious as me?!

3.75 Poli Sci major here. Davis is definitely tied for my first choice. I like that it is located next to Sacramento. It will give me a ton of opportunities when looking for internships. I also like the small town vibe I’ve heard it has. I’m a born and raised beach boy though, so the change is a little scary if I do get in. I’m just not sure what there is to do in Davis on an off-day.

I just want to know if I’m in so I can decide!!

I absolutely LOVE Davis!
If you guys get accepted, I HIGHLY recommend Crepeville and Burgers and Brew which are nearby for stuff to do/eat. They are the best and I’m a pretty picky eater and both of these places are amazing.
Crepeville is really packed throughout the whole day, but you should sit outside and it’s so serene on a sunny/breezy day. So many trees and fresh air, it’s like paradise.
I also walked around the block around the little shops they have; it’s sooo not ghetto. Like here in Sac where I live, I wouldn’t be caught dead on the streets at 10pm in Sac (or else I’d end up dead!). In Davis, it’s different. At least from my experience. There are so many friendly people and since it’s a college town, a lot of the UC students take to the streets at night and walk around and go places to eat. There are a lot of bikers which is really cool to me. Growing up when I had to ride my bike to school, I felt kinda poor lol, but now that it’s so ubiquitous in Davis -rich people and their moms ride bikes!- I feel a lot better about biking. Just get a heavy duty lock since there are still hoodlums that will steal bikes since they’re so prevalent.
I toured Davis a lot before and went to their Pre-Med Conference in 2012 I believe. Some classrooms are a bit rinky-dink and super bright. I love the openness of the main campus though. TONS of lush trees so there’s constant shade when you’re walking around.

I also tagged and got approved, but I am a little apprehensive since I switched community colleges. They weren’t offering the classes at my old CC, so I had to go to Sac City this semester to complete the last three needed, but it still makes me feel like they’re going to scrutinize me for that somehow. I have B+'s in three in my classes so far and need to maintain that B. It puts A TON of pressure on me that I may lose my TAG if my grade slips ;/.

I only applied to UCB and UCD. I doubt I’ll get into UCB, but applied for the heck of it. I don’t think I could ever move there anyway, it’s too far for a mom to just up and move like that! Plus, I got admission fee waived, so why the heck not? (:

Also, did you guys know Fall 14 quarter UCD doesn’t start until October? O.O It’s different since I’m so used to semester system, but omg. That’s like the longest time ever to wait -_-!

Wow. October that is quite strange. I am definitely going to look into a summer session, if allowed, so I can get ahead. I just hope my family housing application is approved in time! The wait is like 6 months, but they are closing one of the family housing apartment so the wait may be longer.

So since you have visited Davis I wanted to ask, do you think it is a good place to raise a child? I have a 17 month old, and I am not much of a party-goer. So I hear college town, and I feel I won’t fit in with the vibe. Any thoughts?

@Daedalus916, the batch/waves system is just like the grouping of applicants. For example, the first batch for UCSD was released around like March 21/22 I think, and the second batch is about to come this week hopefully.

Also, that’s awesome that Davis starts in October lol. I’ll have like a little over a 4 month vacation!

Yes, you can! I found this info. on their website:
You can enroll for summer session '14 if:

-You are a UC student currently enrolled at or admitted for Fall 2014 to a UC campus other than UC Davis
-You are a newly admitted to UC Davis for Fall 2014

Since you’re admitted/going to be admitted you can, but I’d wait until after the 18th of this month to make sure.
I was going to do the summer session, but figured I need to work as much as I can to save up for the apartment!

@TheUnderDog1, Yes! I seriously do. Finding a good town in California is like finding a needle in a haystack. Cali is a bit crime infested, but only because its nice weather and scenery attract people to live here and many from the wrong crowd. Stockton, Sacramento, Oakland, L.A.; just a few off the top of my head that are really dangerous and that’s just in one state and their proximity is not few and far between. Living in Sac has been like living on a prayer. Everyday I pray my house doesn’t get shot up in the everyday drive by’s that go on in my block. And I am being very serious about this. Cops come and pester my house like crazy and they’re always around. Being here is totally not a good place to raise kids unless you live in the outlying areas like Natomas and Elk Grove. Davis make Sacramento look like Havana. The atmosphere over there is so inviting and it is where I would like to raise my own child. I know it’s a college town, but I think that because it’s not your average run of the mill school, the students are a lot more responsible and professional. There are some who aren’t, but that’s only cuz they like to engage in debaucheries which is something that I don’t. I take pride in my studies. I never party/want to because it’s not my thing at all. I’d rather study and be successful than waste my time doing that. Anyway, I hope you give it a try! Davis is a really wonderful town!

I can’t wait to get an official acceptance letter! I used the TAG program, but am still nervous about getting accepted. I put on my application that I would be taking Anatomy in the Spring, but took 3 different classes instead. I’ve called their admissions about it and they said it should be no problem, but of course I’m still worried about it lol. Gah April 18th feels so far away!

I went to school in Oak Park. Have plenty of friends in South Sac. I don’t completely disagree with you but I do think you’re exaggerating a bit OP. I miss going to Oscars near MHS.
