There’s just a gang fight going on over here. Trust me, there were shootings every night for a whole week. My dad almost got shot going out to put out the garbage, so I don’t think I’m exaggerating when his life could have been taken.

I know, right? (:!!! My financial aid still is saying it isn’t available although I’ve read somewhere it’s supposed to say if you have received the FA before you even get your decision.

I’m in kind of the same boat. I’m taking the classes they outlined in the TAG, but at a different CC, so the courses have different names, but still what they want me to take to get into the Psych major. I read that if you make changes to your coursework and all of that, you report them on your MyAdmissions after you get your decisions. That was a relief as every time I tried to fix it using the TAG website, it wouldn’t let me, but I know why now! >:D<

I had the privilege of being able to go and see Davis yesterday.
The campus was nice and green, it was large, and the surrounding neighborhood looked nice.
Even got a chance to sit down and listen to some anthro students speak.

It was a good experience that gave me a lot to think about, but I don’t think it really made me waiver too much with how I feel about UCLA.

@AnthroFlo
That’s awesome! I’m glad you liked it. I really just love the atmosphere of Davis. When I visited for the Pre-Med Conference, it was like nothing in this world. Everything was just so open, lush, and breezy! Plus, it’s the closest UC to my home where all my family is, so it’s the one that I am going to. I only applied to UCD and UCB. UCB only to see if I could actually get in, but my heart is set on Davis and I can’t wait (:

@Daedalus916
I hope you get into Davis!
The lush greenness of the campus was a big plus for me but I’m not entirely sure if their anthropology program is right for me - but I tend to keep my mind pretty open with the university stuff, so who knows.
Once again, best of luck to you and I hope that your university experience (regardless of where you end up going) is wonderful!

Hey guys I was wondering if you guys knew when to update your winter grades and spring courses? Do we update them before or after we find out the admission status? I did not TAG Davis because my GPA during the fall was right at 3.23 and I was unsure how well my fall and winter quarter was going to be, so I tagged UCSC. Currently I am at a cumulative gpa of 3.20, I have completed all the psych (BA) requirements ( the Davis Website claims all psych students are admitted as BA, then decide a math or biological emphasis once admitted). I have not completed the Calc Series , but have finished the Gen Chem, Organic Chem, Physics, and Bio 1A ( equiv to UC Davis Bio 2A). What are my chances of getting in? UC Davis is definitely the school I wish and envision myself at this Fall.

@steezy All transfer applicants were required to submit the Transfer Academic Update (TAU). That’s how you update your course information. Is this what you meant?

thanks @cidzor For the quick response! I submitted the update in January, but was wondering when I should update my grades for the winter quarter? I was also unable to get into a class I listed for my spring quarter and was wondering should I make the changes after the admission decision is released.

I have a 3.386 GPA for statistics. I was rejected from Santa Cruz. I’ve done several semesters of vunteeting and club and work activities. My personal statement was about my struggle with my learning disability…worked from arithmetic to linear algebra and differential equations.

@steeezy they say to put any changes in right away. If it’s not part of IGETC it should be OK, as long as you still have 60 transferable units. They could get angry, though, that you didn’t update as requested.

@Bjort if you got rejected from the lower tier UCSC it’s gonna be hard to get in to the higher tier UCD with your GPA. I would say unlikely, but who knows?

If I got a tag agreement is it pretty much for sure that I will be addmited assuming I maintain my GPA? Because I talked to someone who had a TAG

I tend to appeal because I applied for TAG and I had several F’s that I was doing academic renewal for. The transfer counsellor told me to put all my F’s in instead of selecting AR for my Grades and put “academic renewal will be done for all F’s” in the comment box.

My TAG was rejected because all those F’s made my GPA a 2.8. My friend at UCLA said what the counsellor told me was incorrect and to put AR for all F’s I’m using academic renewal.

“That’s why there’s an AR option” she said.

My TAG would have been accepted if I had put AR like I did for my regular application…with a 3.386 GPA.

If people with 3.2 get in with TAG why would they not accept regular Applicant with a 3.2-3.4 GPA.

I have a 4.0 this semester (spring) too.

UC Santa Cruz said I didn’t meet junior standing criteria, and tbh I never looked at their requirements for courses. Like I never took an art class, I took one physics class, but a bunch of poli sci (don’t know if that counts for social and behavioural). That’s probably why I was not meeting criteria.

@Bjort If you have above a 3.0 I’d say you have a chance - not sure what your chances are, but it’s not hopeless. Your prereqs may have been the issue. I’ve seen people get rejected from UCSC and then get accepted at “higher-tier” UC’s.

I applied for Statistics also. I’d like to do the Computational Statistics program if I’m accepted/attend or switch into Mathematical & Scientific Computation. Good luck!

I wonder if the appeal will be workable if I discuss the counselor issue? The times I had those F’s (or small period) was during a very difficult time in my life (roommate tried to kill me, my learning disability medication was not working from stress so I couldnt do my coursework) I didnt talk about that in my personal statements.

Also my school is about to lose its accreditation from admin corruption lol

@Bjort geez, that is a great appeal. Don’t go overboard with the counselor, just that you were misinformed about the options and then focus solely on your struggles.

@Bjort I would suggest leaving out the medication snafu as it might make you look like a bad risk. Focus solely on the attempted murder and that caused stress (obviously).

@steeezy You update them AFTER admission status on MyAdmissions for UC Davis. I read that somewhere since I thought I was supposed to update it using my the TAG website, but it doesn’t work for that. You can update your TAU as well after the decision, but they said to update your courses directly using the MyAdmissions website. This obviously won’t be available until after the 18th since all I get when I log in now is:

Your application has been received and is currently being reviewed by our Undergraduate Admissions staff.

We will send you an official admission decision notice and post your admission decision on MyAdmissions when it becomes available. Freshman decisions will be sent beginning in late March. Transfer decisions will be sent beginning in late April. Please be patient and permit us time to complete a thorough evaluation.
