I’m a SCC person, too - Though I’m at the Davis Center, so I don’t cross the causeway everyday in bumper to bumper traffic. And a Sociology major as well… Hoping you and I get into UCD -
Chance me please
Major: Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior
GPA: 3.66 (now it’s 3.46)
Transferring from: UCSC
Prereqs: all but physics (I started this quarter)
GE: I have 4 more GEs to fulfill at UCSC
TAG: N/A
IGETC: N/A
EC: ~70hours
AP Scores: 10/11 passed with a score of 3+
There’s not much information out there for intercampus transfers so I hope you guys can help
I already got accepted into UCSB and UCSC for psychology, but this is my top choice along side with UCLA.
I have a 3.3, have been living by myself since I was 18 (23 now), worked, acted my whole life, and grew up with my mom running a home daycare.
I am really hoping I get in to UCD’s psychology program, but is their psychology program really as cut throat as the previous year’s thread indicate? It looks like a ton of people with 3.5’s and above got rejected…
Does anyone know if is hard to get into for psychology?
Thanks
I’m so nervous to hear back, I’m preparing myself for the worst.
I’m a poli sci major transferring from a CCC. UC gpa is a 3.34 and I will be finishing my Igetc this spring. (Just taking Stats this semester.) I am missing one prerequisite though, which is Econ. I’m hoping I still have a shot.
I’m from scc as well- does being local increase your chances? I think I mentioned before Davis is really my only option-- I was accepted at csus but they don’t have a stats major
Do I have a chance of getting in?
Major: Managerial Economics

Transferring from CC from Bay Area

IGETC: Completed
Thank you so much!
Okay - First, I am not a fortune-teller, and you never ever know how admissions will decide. In previous years, they have rejected a “shoo-in” with a 4.0, while admitting someone with a 2.8. It really depends on the number of students each department needs each year and your personal history. So, this is purely guessing, and I wish everyone (including myself) the best for Friday. Who knows? You’ll all get accepted, and I’ll be the one spending another year at SCC!! Knock on wood, fingers crossed…
@JustMe95 NPB is a popular major, and you might squeak in with ~ 3.5. But it gets harder missing some Physics & being at a UC (lower priority). Relax, go to the beach, and smile knowing you are already at a college that many people would love to be at in any case. If you don’t transfer, work on the GPA, because grad school is just around the corner.
@lyonsbot Have to be honest, Psychology is a very selective major at UCD (if I could underline “very,” I would). It’s the biggest major on campus and they seem to have a cut-off at 3.8 for non-TAG people. They really are harsh with admits, and you have a 3.3. Maybe your history will help… Your hard work has paid off, though, you already get to choose between UCSB & UCSC…You can live by the beach (we flatlander Central Valley folk living in 100 degree heat each summer think that’s cool).
@vidaless You have a chance with a 3.34 for Poli Sci, but you probably would have a better chance if all the prereqs were finished or in progress. Just depends on the needs of Poli Sci this year. Without a TAG, you’re sitting on a fence.
@statrans They say that being local does not influence their decisions (which is true). And you can’t get more local than me! However, UCD & CSUS do have an on-going relationship working with transfers from Sacramento area CCs, such as Sac City. Their counselors have met us and advised us. They prefer you to TAG, but in my case, it was not possible to do so this year.
@askjeevs Your GPA is a bit low for Managerial Econ at UCD, and missing that important Stats doesn’t help. But you already know that. Stay positive. If you get in, celebrate. If you don’t, work on the GPA for another year and finish the statistics, and go for a TAG in September. (This is my back-up plan for myself.)
Do you think environmental toxicology is a popular major?
@ltc2693 I kind of think not. But what a great SUBJECT!
does anyone know what time will they announce decisions on Friday?
@daviscowsrule thanks for the response. That makes me really nervous. It’s strange because they do have a higher acceptance rate out of all of the UC’S… 57 percent. I thought I would be a guaranteed admittance since I got into the other two schools and because of the high admittance rate. We will see, I am so nervous. I really rather not go to ucsb or ucsc… Davis is the school for me! This is going to be the longest two days of my life…
@ktrinccby seems like last year they came out around 2 pm but I’m sure there is no way to tell for sure-- I’m going to be checking every five minutes … I also feel like I saw a thread where they came out at like 3 am or some ridiculous time- please someone tell me I’m mistaken so I’m not up all night checking too haha
@DavisCowsRule chance me please Do I have any hope of getting in?!
Major: International Relations
GPA: 2.89
Upward trend in grades
I have worked the whole time I’m in school
Transferring from CC in Santa Cruz
Prereqs: Completed
IGETC: Finished
Thanks!
@ltc2693 ETOX is in the College of A & E, not too crowded a major, but growing in popularity. You’d have a good chance of transferring in with a ~ 3.4 and above, non-TAG.
@ktrinccby They usually post results between 2:30 and 2:45 pm.
@lyonsbot The admit rate is deceiving. This year more people applied(~15,300), and UCD capped the number of admits (~ 8300). So, that technically puts the admit rate down to about 54%. They are planning on about 3500 students actually SIRing. However, of the about 8,300 admits, about 2000 to 2500 are TAG people. Which leaves about 6000 people without TAG admitted. So, over half of those given admittance will go to a different college. Of the approximately 7,000 people not admitted, about 500 might be offered the waitlist (which very few people get admitted from). A few hundred people will try the appeals process and only a few dozen might get offers. Of those about 6500 who have not been admitted or offered waitlist status, perhaps more than half are from out-of-state schools, CSUs, overseas, or other UCs - all of which have lower priority than the CCC students. So, the odds are in favor of CCC students with decent GPAs, but again, it depends on the needs of the particular major you desire. With so many people already students in Psychology at Davis, or wanting to transfer into Psychology, they can be choosier than the Philosophy department (for example). Keep in mind, there are current UCD students who might want to switch majors into Psychology, too. Psychology is just a very impacted major at UCD.
@DavisCowsRule Is biochemistry an impacted major at Davis? What GPA would be considered competitive?
@sccali80 International Relations as a major is an interdisciplinary program at UCD. This means it has a lot of required classes from other departments (economics, anthro, poli sci, etc.), and they take that into account for number of admits (how impacted are those other departments for classroom space). Like a Communications or Poli Sci major, International Relations is growing in popularity. I’m a little nervous that your GPA is under 3.0 - but other people might be trying more for Poli Sci, etc., and not International Relations. Also, admissions takes your life story into account, something I can’t know from the little you’ve told me. Hang in there, and don’t worry about anything that comes. There’s always options… and maybe admissions will surprise you!
@jason861101 Biochemistry & Molecular Biology major or Biochemical Engineering major? These both tend to fall into the same zone as Chemistry majors - though one is in Biological Sciences and the other is in the Dept. of Chemical Engineering. The Bio Sci majors are all popular majors. I am just guessing, but anything above ~ 3.5 / 3.6 would probably be competitive. Better if you come closer to a 3.7 or 3.8+.
Is 3.14 a competitive GPA for a Mangerial Economics major?
@Robhthree 3.14 is going to be a nail biter, depending on your other qualifications & history. ~3.3+ would be more comfortable for Managerial Econ.
What GPA did you get in your math classes? If the courses that brought down your GPA are in non-major required subjects, they might take that into account.
