UC Davis Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

Admission decisions will be out this Friday? This is coming directly from the Admissions office?

From here: http://news.ucdavis.edu/search/news_detail.lasso?id=11131

So I thought applicants that have a TAG get early admission notifications?

We did, it says if the TAG was accepted or not on the TAP page

Wait, so TAG is for the university? I thought it only applied to the major. I completed a TAG for the CRD major at Davis thinking that it secured my place for major for so long as I am admitted to the university.

Chances?

Major: Computer Science & Engineering (second bachelor’s)
GPA: 3.76
Transferring from: CCC
Prereqs: yes, except assembly language
GE: YES
TAG: N/A
IGETC: N/A
EC: Lots

@CaptainCal TAG is for university admission… I’m not completely sure if they take in to account you’re major or not, but it’s a guarantee for admission to the university if you complete the courses in progress and planned, that you reported on your TAG application

@frankelsauce Looks great! If you come to UCD, you might have my bro as your TA or instructor at some point.

@DavisCowsRule I just saw your message from a while ago. Thanks for your opinion! Is English a heavily impacted major at Davis? I will only be missing 1 pre-rec and I am willing to take it at Davis in the summer. I’m scared that I won’t get into Davis. Even though I have been accepted to most of my back-up schools, I really only want to go to Davis.

@KingOfTheClouds English takes in a lot of transfers. One or two classes shouldn’t hurt your chances of getting in.

Two more day and we all will know!! The suspense is killing me haha

@DavisCowsRule Oh okay! Thanks! Sorry for asking so many questions :stuck_out_tongue: It’s just great to have someone to talk to Davis about. My parents are tired of me talking about school and I have so many questions lol Is Davis usually good about financial aid? I know it’s a UC so I don’t expect them to offer much, but do they at least offer a good amount in loans?

If anyone is a History major who intends to go to UCD, be sure to take Spyridakis’ Ancient History (111 series) before he retires. He is really a great professor and famous for his lectures.

@DavisCowsRule Actually this is only the second week of class. So if I drop the class, it won’t show up on my transcript at all. With the class, I’m taking 24.5 units when our cap is at 21 units. So definitely a really full courseload. In addition, that class is at another community college that’s farther away. At my actual cc, I was unable to get the class because it filled up too fast (even though I was on the waitlist, I didn’t get the class).
But yeah, calling seems like the best option. If I don’t get in, there’s always sjsu haha I definitely can drop the class if I decide to go there.

@KingOfTheClouds I don’t know how UCD’s financial package compares to other schools, so can’t really help you there. I live at home, and probably will for at least another year (saves $). My brother (the grad student) is getting a generous award from the university. My tuition is covered, too, thanks to my grandfather who passed away about two years ago (left me a college fund in a trust). A day never passes that I don’t think about him and tell him “thank you.”

@epitome95 Did you list it on your TAG? You might have to explain why it’s missing if you get admitted. But I think they would probably be inclined to let you take the class over the summer (maybe during a summer session at UCD). Definitely talk with an advisor as soon as you get in about the class, and planning your future courses in general.

@DavisCowsRule Awww! That’s so sweet of your grandfather! I always think that’s so great because it really helps out the student!

My chances of getting in?

Major: Managerial Economics
GPA: 3.14
Transferring from: CCC
Prereqs: Majority
TAG: Nope
IGETC: Finish this semester (taking my last english and stats)
EC: Football coach
Accepted: UCR
Rejected: UCSB

@KingOfTheClouds So true…and because I spent so little during the past two years (CCCs really are a great bargain), I’ll have money toward potential graduate studies. So, I will be watching how I spend over the next few years, living at home, working, etc. When I do move out, I’ll probably move in with my brother or share a rental house with some friends, as I would want my dog with me.

@Robhthree Congrats on UCR! Hope you get into UCD as well!
