UC Davis Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@sammycatt UCD is really nice. And I never noticed a cow smell. But then I love cows. Nice architecture there too.

My dog just liked two photos on your IG. :ar!

@CowTipper94 When did you take this history class - before or after you applied? Have you tried calling UC Davis about this and asking? It might affect your TAG if you applied for one, but if you got in via normal admissions, then it might be okay since you just need to maintain a 2.8 until the end of Spring 2015.

@autumnfairy I didn’t call UC Davis about this as I couldn’t find a suitable number. I’m weighing whether to call them or not because I’ll be able to see in MyAdmissions whether or not everything is ok. All I have done thus far is update that grade in MyAdmissions. Do you know where I could maybe an appropriate number? It might be good to call

I didn’t TAG and I got in through normal admissions and I took it in Fall of 2013 (so before). Like I said, just an honest mistake and hopefully they’ll be forgiving! Thanks for your response!

Interesting about UCSD @friedchips. Just goes to show you should always call.

@CowTipper94: If you look at your admissions page, where you saw your application status, you should see on the side “Update Academic classes” or something like that. Go there and update your grade. I talked to the admissions person about this and they said it was perfectly fine if you updated it there since the admissions people will reevaluate your application once they receive the final transcript in July. If you want to be absolutely sure, I’d recommend talking to the Davis admissions person for sure on the phone.

@penguinluver Thanks for your response! I just actually called on the Davis Admissions person on the phone for my own peace of mind. She said that unless I “had” to get an A in that course for whatever reason that I would be fine and if there was a problem then Davis would contact me, but I don’t think that’s likely from how she spoke to me on the phone. Thanks for your help, everyone!

Strange. So for all of those who were wondering about regents from UCD, I called their office right now…and to echo what @stonetower said, I was told that if I did not receive a notice at the same time as my admit email/if the regents scholarship is not posted under myawards, I did not receive regents. I find it really strange that I was offered to compete for regents at UCLA but did not even get offered regents at UCD. What can you do though :-/

Hello everyone!

I have a question about the conditions of admissions. One of my condition is to “Complete all transferable in progress or planned courses with a GPA of 3.40 or higher, with no grade less than “C,” by the end of your spring term. To achieve the minimum overall UC-transferable grade point average required, you may need to achieve higher than “C” grades. In addition, you must be in good standing at each collegiate institution that you have attended.”

I am currently taking four classes, one of them is calculus II. I am positive I will be earning an A in the other three classes, but am worried that I might get a C in calculus II. If I do get a C, I will not meet the 3.4 GPA. I have contacted admissions, and was told to just try my best. And if they do decide to withdraw their offer of admission they will contact me.

Do you guys have any ideas on this? :frowning:

I have quick questions regarding to financial aid package.

  1. Did anyone has Cal grant in the package? I know I'm qualified for Cal Grant and it showed on my UCLA package too. For some reasons it didn't reflect on my UCD estimation, therefore I receive less than I do at UCLA. I called the financial aid office, they said they would add Cal grant if I SIR to UCD. Is it true?
  2. Is Cal grant same other schools?
  3. I choose "on campus" housing but it showed "off campus" =___= Is there any way to change?

@Eotteokhae I’m not an expert on this but I heard many people earned C last year didn’t end up to be rescinded. I’m not sure if same thing applies when it comes to your major preps Is Cal 2 is one of them ? If it is then you should try your best to at least get B for future grad school( if you plan to)

I took Cal 2 before so I would suggest do more homework to practice the skills to integrate and take derivative.

@bizmlover

  1. I don’t have any Cal Grants in my financial aid package either. I’m thinking that they would get updated later.
  2. I think Cal grants may differ by schools but not significantly.
  3. You might have to call Davis to change that!

@bizmlover Thank you for your response! I’ll try my best!

@bizmlover you are a stats transfer also right? Which calc series did you take? Comparable to 16 series or 21 series? I started 21 series but I’m wondering if I can use calc 1 from 21
As pre req for calc 2 16 series… I planned to take calc 2 of 21 this summer but I’m not sure why I should take the more difficult calc series as an applied stats major…

@Eotteokhae do you know if this is an overall GPA or just spring semester? I think as long as your major isn’t impacted, you should be ok. But still obviously try your best! If you believe then you can achieve

@epitome95 It is for the Spring semester only. Thank you thank you!

Does anyone know if there’s a group on Facebook for Transfers of 2017 or if someone will make one? I tried searching in the “Groups at Davis”, but I cannot seem to find it. I only see class of 2017 for Freshman admits.

There is a group on there. the link should be on myadmission lol.

by the way, are transfers allowed to dorm? I know transfers are guaranteed housing to the school’s apartments. How about dorm?

@jason861101 I should’ve looked there first. Haha, thank you!

@lindyk8 I’m just now seeing this message! I was wondering why a random dog was liking my pictures haha. He’s adorable. :stuck_out_tongue: And after seeking advice from many people I have decided I am going to UCLA! It just feels right.
