UC Davis Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@Sanla124 You’re welcome. I actually just called the admissions office, and like I assumed, it’s the first message you hear.

Give it a whirl: 530-752-2971

Does anyone know good UCD scholarships to apply for. I had no idea transfers had to send a letter of rec for Regents so I wont be able to receive that one.

@TransferJ Did they request that you apply for regents? How’d you find out about needing to send a LOR?
My husband never got a notice about it.

I got an email a while back asking if I want to submit a letter of rec:
A letter of recommendation will ensure that your academic achievements will be considered holistically, and may result in a more favorable review of your application for UC Davis scholarships.

It then went on to say that if I want to apply for Regents I need at least a 3.8 GPA and to send a letter of rec. I don’t have a 3.8 but I sent a letter of rec any way.

@boxandwhiskers Hmm interesting. So if a LOR would “ensure a holistic review,” in other words, was it really required?

I double checked with my husband and he never received an email about it. Although he has a 3.9

@sanla124 I’m not sure. I’ve heard from lots of other people that Davis doesn’t really do the holistic review, but that’s been debated and i’m not sure if it’s correct. To say “If you send us a letter of recommendation it’ll make your application look better and we will look at it hollistically” seems kind of weird.
The email was sent from Financial Aid and Scholarships so I assumed that it was just for scholarship purposes, for all those scholarships I applied to through the UC app.
Did your husband TAG? I have an approved TAG, maybe it was sent to only TAG people? Idk.
¯_(ツ)_/¯

@boxandwhiskers I did a TAG for Davis but didn’t get any email about regents. I applied on my own after finding about the scholarship. I think that is how it is unfortunately for some.

@boxandwhiskers Yeah that’s what I was finding questionable. And no he tagged to UCI, so that could be it ;p

@Sanla124 I didn’t receive any emails and I have a 4.0 plus I got regents at UCSD I tried contacting them multiple times after I found out we had to turn in a letter of rec by stumbling upon it on their website. I sent them many messages about how it was unfair I was not noticed and never heard word back.

@TransferJ Oh wow! That’s ridiculous

Does anyone know what time on Friday that Davis will release admissions? I don’t want to stay up if it’s not midnight.

@centennial13 probably right before the admissions office closes, maybe around 5ish

@centennial13

I literally just posted in this thread what the automated message system said. It stated that decisions will be up AFTER 5PM, so expect it around 5-6ish.

Last year they said the same, and yet decisions started to begin posting around 2-4pm. I guess they don’t want too many people refreshing and logging in all at once. They send an email as soon as the admission status notification is posted on myAdmissions.

FYI: Throughout the previous years, there has been a “trick” to determine if you have potentially been admitted or waitlisted - by checking the “requirements” satisfactory status in myAwards. Unfortunately, this trick is no longer exists this year as that “requirement” is not shown anymore.

However: I think I might have discovered a new trick!
I call this the “myBill Trick”

  1. Go to the following link: https://mybill.ucdavis.edu/C21642_tsa/web/login.jsp
  2. Use the login link for Students and Staff.
  3. Log in using the same user id / password you have for myAdmissions.
  4. Wait. Be patient. This bill portal takes time to load.
  5. Click the "eDeposits" tab located on the top
  6. Click the "Select Term" options for "Making Deposit Payment for Term".
  7. In the dropdown menu option, you should see "Fall 2016". Select it if you see it.
  8. If no error message is given, I can only assume that they have you in the system as "admitted" or "waitlisted" or "incoming transfer" - and hence the next option given "residence hall" is present (for transfers).

I cannot imagine them offering this option of putting a deposit for Housing for Fall 2016 if you aren’t admitted or at least waitlisted for Fall 2016… I’m pretty sure this is accurate, but I will try to confirm come Friday, with several of my friends who have applied for Fall 2016. Regardless, check and post here if you see the same or different!

Also, FYI, you can log in to myUCDavis and start playing around with ScheduleBuilder early - this way if admitted, you can be prepared early for orientation where you have to register for classes!

Hope this helps in easing to the torture you are all suffering during this part of the year lol!

Woah, that is pretty cool.

this is the first trick to see if you’re admitted that I actually got to work. Hope it actually means you’re accepted!

It at least made me feel that way for 60 seconds
