UC DAVIS FALL 2019 TRANSFER THREAD

Did anyone just get an email about applying for the Cal Aggies Alumni scholarships? Why do they give us these applications and then only give us 5-6 days to submit an essay for it! So much stress lol. Atleast it’s only one essay and that’s it.

I got the email as well. I agree that they should’ve notified us earlier lol.

I got the email too! I’m not 100% certain about going, but I’ll look into it because a scholarship would help me decide! I’m sure you guys also got the regents scholarship awhile back, but I think we had a like a week to complete it along with getting 2 references. To do that in addition with working full time and taking 5 classes was just such a stretch for me.

@davispls fullerton college :slight_smile:

@animalscience1 I used to go there!

I got the scholarship email too… not sure about it because the deadline is so soon

@africangirl97 haha no way? Small world! Do you reside in Orange County as well?

Does anyone know if there is a Davis facebook group for transfers? I’m not super big on FB but I’m finding the Cal one pretty helpful!

@fullogiggles, there is but it’s very dead lol, no one posts on it

@tinedancer just like this thread lol

@fullogiggles lol I know it’s sad cause I’m so excited to go to Davis and don’t have anyone to share my excitement with

Hi I was recently admitted to Davis and I am trying to figure out transfer housing, I rather be with other transfers. For those of you who are going, what places are you guys staying?

Davis has guaranteed housing for transfers for one year. They don’t have a community specifically for transfers but the SHA apartments will probably have a decent amount of transfers. If you want to connect with other transfers I’d look into the resources they have for us.

I’d like to be with other transfers too but plan on sharing a room with my bf who still has another year of cc so I don’t think I can live in the guaranteed housing provided by the school. I’m going to call and double check but will probably start looking on housing groups, craigslist, and other independent options.

If you’re looking for off campus housing and don’t mind driving, I’d check out the Sacramento area and Woodland because supposedly rent is cheaper there. I was checking out some studio apartments and found some for a little over 900.

@animalscience1 I technically live in LA county but my city is very close to brea

I’ve been stressed about housing too. I work at an animal hospital and we had a UC Davis Vet School student who came last summer for her internship. I reached out to her recently and she let me know that the apartments at Davis are so impacted and a lot of people are on waitlist. She said to take advantage of the guaranteed housing for the first year and start looking at options once enrolled.

I’m also worried about housing after the SHA year is up, which is why I’m trying to get a feel of different areas already lol. Some SHA apartments rent out privately, so I’m going to start there when the time comes.

Also fingers crossed we get a spot for Aggie weekend! I’m impatiently waiting for April 29th to know if we’re in lol.

@ilovemydog2019 haha me too  If I don’t get it, please let me know how it went !
