My daughter has wanted to go to UC Davis since she was in middle school. She wants to major in Biology or Animal Science and go on to veterinary school at UC Davis or somewhere else. Her unweighted hs GPA is 3.92 and her highest SAT score is 1180. She took the SAT three times. She didn’t take the ACT. The breakdown of her last and highest SAT was 660 Verbal and 520 Math, with 17 on the writing section. I’m worried that her SAT scores are too low. What are her chances of getting into Davis?
She needs to calculate her UC Capped weighted GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Here is the 2017 Freshman profile. Her unweighted GPA looks competitive but SAT score is low. Depending upon major it could be a High Match to a Reach school
GPA and test scores of middle 25%-75% students
High School GPA UC: 3.95 - 4.25
ACT Composite Score: 26 - 32
ACT English Language Arts : 24 - 30
SAT Evidence Based Reading & Writing: 590 - 680
SAT Mathematics: 600 - 750
SAT Essay: 15 - 18
I’m a freshman at UCDavis currently. I had a 3.5 GPA, with an SAT score of 1370… my major is Biological Sciences.
If you look at those facts alone, it wouldn’t seem like I got into UCDavis, but I had strong essays and awesome extracurriculars. My point is, take a more holistic view at your daughters chances
Her chances are improbable if Asian or Caucasian… Likely if African American or native Indian. Applying to certain majors can also affect her chances. Her profile looks like match at UC Merced and maybe UCR.

The UC’s do not consider Race/Ethnicity in their admissions decisions along with the Cal states. Affirmative action was banned for CA public schools.
