I've been accepted to Davis this Fall (as a Pre Managerial Economics major)

I've read my transfer admission contract, and it just says "Complete all transferable courses in progress or planned with a GPA of 2.80 or better, with no grade less than "C."

However, I'm currently having alot of trouble in my Calculus 1B class (the last prereq I need to complete), and I'm very afraid I'll get a D or worse. My CC's deadline to drop the class with a W is this Friday. I've asked Admissions through the "Report Any Changes" page on the MyAdmissions site last week, but I still have no response...

Will I most likely be able to drop the class with a W? I'll still have 90 units. Can I retake it at Davis in the Fall? I just need answers! I've called Davis admissions everyday, and they haven't had anything for me yet.

Wait a couple more days.
I’m in a similar situation - take a look at the thread I posted if you want - and I explained my situation on the Report Any Changes form. I got a response in about 72 hours. What exactly did you write? When I talked to Admissions, they said that they usually answer if it’s something that is going to affect your status, but sometimes if you’re just reporting information and they know it’s not going to earn you a rescind they won’t answer. I don’t know if that’s true but that’s what Admissions told me.

jsw which cc are you at? i dont think you are allowed to take it in fall… ive applied under the same major and my conditions of admission are the same i think . (“complete calc 1b in spring with C or better” …they require you to complete calc 1b prior to transfer) tell me if im wrong?

I attend Foothill and De Anza College.

Hmm, what exactly does your agreement say? Can you copy/paste it?

@ivy: Yeah, I saw your thread and it gave me more hope. I called admissions today, and they did say that if they don’t send a message, then it might mean it’s fine to drop. I’ll keep calling though until I get a firm answer though -_-

1.
Maintain Academic Performance

Complete all transferable courses in progress or planned with a GPA of 2.80 or better, with no grade less than “C.”

Note: You may verify the courses that have been determined transferable by viewing your transfer credit summary at MyAdmissions.
2.
You have completed 60.00 transferable quarter units through fall 2009 term. You must complete the remainder of your minimum 90 transferable quarter units to be eligible for admission as a junior by the conclusion of your spring term.
(Note: To convert quarter units into semester units divide quarter units by 1.5)

3.
You must complete Math 1B with C grade or better spring term.

the rest is all 4 and 5 are about Hs n college transcripts … is it identical?

Hmm, mine doesn’t say anything at all about Calculus 1B. Maybe this means I can drop it? Haha

yeah i guess? go for it if you feel confident :)

Call up Davis’s admissions office if you don’t get a reply from the Report a Change website. They aren’t that picky when it comes to missing one pre-req, but it’s always good to make sure about it. I wrote on my spring planned classes that I was going to take Stats (required for Econ), but I never did and I eventually reported that. Two days later I got a response saying it didn’t harm my admission.

Why not just take the D? Isn’t a D better than a W?

no its not. i honestly think a w is even better than a “c.” just dont have too many w’s and ur fine.

Edit: WOW I keep misreading your posts. nvm

And they say you need to inform them and get approval before you withdraw.

Anyways, I’m screwed, last day to withdraw for me was April 30th :(

I’m transferring to UC Davis too from De Anza as a Managerial Econ major. Who’s your Calc 1B teacher?? I took it last quarter and got a C…

And I dropped my Calc1C course earlier this quarter and reported it. Davis told me it was okay, and I’ll be attending in the Fall. I’m not too sure if it goes for 1B too- but definitely call up Davis and ask if it’s required. If not, then just work hard. I had a teacher called Logvinenko for 1B (omg, SO SO SO bad) and I had a D up until the final. I must have studied so hard because I got a C at the end! Talk to your teacher and try to work things out too, and see if you can do any of the extra credit. Just a couple more points for a C!!!

Hey, Davis transfers, step it up. You guys are making me look bad.

thanks for the responses everyone.

the main thing keeping me from dropping now is actually USC…

If I drop Math 1B, I will not be considered for admission at USC. I still haven’t received a decision from them either, and I have 1 day left to drop classes.

Part of me is telling me I should be happy with what I have and drop the course for Davis, but I would never be able to forgive myself if I actually got accepted to USC, but got rescinded because I dropped Calc…:
