UC Davis or San Diego?

I'm going to major in Bioengineering... I live in the Bay Area also. The thing that's holding my back from UC San Diego is my family and boyfriend. I went over this in the Davis forum already, but I just want to ask a San Diego "expert" WHY I should go to San Diego instead of Davis.. :/ I'm facing such a tough decision..

Btw, Davis invited to to a Facebook group. I was wondering if SD has the same thing.

What I always say and what I will continue to always say is to pick the school you really see yourself at for the next four years. I can honestly say when I was deciding on where I was going to go, it came down to Davis and UCSD. To me they both seemed really similar in a lot of ways, but eventually I narrowly ended up picking UCSD. It was a really tough decision. But like I said, it’s where YOU see yourself.

Well, how do YOU like San Diego, Kings?
And I DO plan on checking out the campuses first of course…

I grew up thinking I was going to Davis, with two alum parents and attending Picnic Day every year. Then I chose UCSD. My first year was rough and I was homesick a lot, but Southwest makes it REALLY easy to fly home whenever you need to. You shouldn’t feel pressured to attend UCSD because of its superior BE department, you should choose the school you want to be at and call yourself an alum of in four years’ time.

Your reasons may be different, but I chose UCSD because of the laid-back atmosphere, the need to get out of a cowtown, their relative ranking over Davis, and the fact that I didn’t die every time my springtime allergies kicked up.

(fwiw, several of my friends were involved in 4-year relationships with their significant others in norcal and them at ucsd. some are married now, so it’s not the end of the world. :))

san diego is better than davis!!! UCSD all the way!!

Well, I enjoy my classes and professors. I like my living arrangements. I’m a member of UCSD’s Pepband which I love even though nobody else goes to the sporting events. The weather is nearly perfect. I never feel unsafe on or off campus. The beach is close by which is fun. And I have great friends. Just from that though, it’s hard to separate UCSD that much from Davis. Davis doesn’t have the beach but they have a football team and marching band which I would have been apart of. I probably would have liked my classes there. I probably would have liked my living arrangements there. I probably would have felt safe. The weather there is still better than 90% of the US. And I probably would have found great friends too. When I was picking between UCSD and Davis, I really had trouble seeing how they were very different and I just BARELY picked UCSD over Davis because I had to pick one and I felt like I liked UCSD a little bit better. Needless to say I’d probably be equally as happy at Davis (or Santa Cruz or Irvine which were my other choices). That’s just me though. I’m definitely not regretting my decision or anything but it makes me wonder how different my experience would have been.

I am from San Francisco
Last year I got accepted to Biomedical Engineering in UCD and Bioengineering in UCSD.
I chose UCSD.
REASON - UCD Biomedical Engineering doesn’t have credential.
I love UCSD.

omg, my boyfriend is going to HATE me forever if I choose UCSD over UCDavis…
seniorsf, Biomedical Engineering really don’t have credential? then what am I going to do? I want to major in bioengineering :(.

UCD Biomedical Engineering doesn’t have credential.
Check webpage.
I discover that during last year open day in April.
They promised to get credential in 2 or 3 years, but I don’t believe.
This process is hard and time consuming.

like the other posters said, you should choose the school you can see yourself at most. if you haven’t already, go check out the schools. go to admit day. if you end up choosing davis over sd mainly because of your boyfriend, you may regret it in the future.

Davis is hot and flat, and away from the beach. Visit at the beginning of winter quarter and the end of spring quarter to get a good scope of weather. plus if its not ABET accredited, don’t even waste your time there, which it is not: [Accredited Programs Search](http://www.abet.org/AccredProgramSearch/AccreditationSearch.aspx)

Oh okay, thanks everyone! I will definitely talk to the counselor there? Or whoever I can at the college to straighten this out. I actually live 30 minutes away from Davis and drive pass it almost once a month, but I’ve never actually been to the campus.
I will check out both campuses for sure!
Thank you guys so much for the info!
