Hi, I don't know which school is better for civil engineering or civil/environmental engineering? Could someone help give input on which one is the best of the two? Or should I consider SLO and santa clara university as well? Thanks

If you were accepted into SLO i would go there definitely, it’s better than your other choices

Definitely consider SLO and Davis. The others I’m not sure about.

Im at Irvine, but I honestly doubt that the engineering programs will differ that much at the other schools. However, I wanted to mention that my Vibrations TA (undergrad at SLO) said that they actually got to play with lab equipment and program little robots during labs. The labs at Irvine don’t have much of a hands on approach and focuses more on analyzing and interpreting the data from experiments. I think this may have to do with the size and curriculum differences at the two schools. Not gonna lie, I’d rather play around with robots then do excel charts and try to calculate the best fit curve–only to realize that our data has huge errors in measurements…

See if you can email any prof’s or perhaps pay a visit and actually talk to incoming students. If you think you might switch out of engineering, the UC’s are a good choice since they offer so many other majors.

I went to SLO last summer for a college tour. great Engineering school with a new eng. Our tour guide showed us the robotics that students got to play/program.
