UC Davis or UC San Diego for Biology

I’m a transfer student from a California community college with a major in cellular and molecular biology. I got into UCSD, UC Davis, UC Riverside, and UC Irvine. My top two choices are UCSD and UC Davis, my financial aid is the same for both schools. I visited both schools and liked both campuses. I originally had the intention of being pre-veterinary but I’m considering pre-med at this point and I’m undecided between the two. Any thoughts???

Davis has more pre-vet opportunities. Are you truly undecided?

I’m stuck between pre-vet and pre-med, all the prerequisites are the same. However this summer I plan to shadow both a vet and a doctor and decide from there.

Another note for Davis. On-site cows across from Tercero.

If you want a more coastal location, UCSD. If you want a more farmish location, UCD. Basically if you want to do pre-med, both these schools have great programs. If you want to do pre-med, do not assume that since Davis is a vet school, it’s gonna be better for you. UCSD is known for being a marine situated school due to its location, if you want to go in the direction of marine veterinary medicine, San Diego is a great location to get exposure to it. If you desire more of the traditional side of veterinary med, Davis has access to farm animals and small domestic animal exposure.

Pre-vet, Davis, pre-med UCSD. @ucsbplzz UCD would be better because there will be the possibility of adding courses that are relevant, and actually working with vets, which would both add experience to the OP’s CV, and has the possibility of having LoRs from animal science professors.
