UC Davis or UC Santa Barbara?

I am trying to decide between UCD or UCSB for my undergrad edu. i also thought about uci but nothing there really excites me except for a nice campus and close to disneyland. i have visited davis, and am planning on going to see sb soon. i'm not a party person but i dont like to be so serious all the time. I got accepted to psychology major but i really dont know what i want to do and will most likely end up changing majors. maybe to business or something, not sure yet. i'm not sure how much i should weigh academics against a good environment for me. here are what i think about both: theres more stuff listed under davis because i visited there

davis--PROS: good academics, closer to home, student-run town, more people i know attending (which will help with my transition), really cool student center/arc, nice dorms, studious environment; CONS: some areas smell like cows, really hot or really cold weather, more competitive environment (not necessarily a bad thing), harder classes?

sb--PROS: nice weather, relaxing environment, good academically as well, nice dorms, by the beach; CONS: "party school" stereotype, far from home, not used to socal life, fewer people from home

opinions?

Many parents on this forum will agree that it’s healthy to do go school far away from home. Broadens horizons, fosters independence and helps to sharpen your social skills as you make new friends.

Since you have no real academic reason to pick one school over the other, I’d say go to Santa Barbara & discover another part of California.

thanks for the advice,

the only thing is i get incredibly homesick :frowning: i went on a school trip to central america last summer for three weeks and was miserable even when everyone else said it was the best experience of their lives.

trying to get over the homesickness though!

From what you said, you seem like a UC Davis kinda person.(:
