UC Davis Regents email

I just received an email from UCD stating that I might be eligible for the Regents scholarship. Is this an email that gets sent to all applicants or was i specifically selected to apply?

Hey, I got that too! I was a bit surprised because I am a transfer and it is pretty early, so I have some questions too. Did other campuses also send out their Regents invitations, or was it just Davis?

Good luck to you both! The only email I received today was for Discover UC Davis so it doesn’t look like they send regents emails to everyone.

I got the email also. Who are we supposed to ask to write the recommendation letter? Is it supposed to be a professor or can be it be anyone? Also, for majors do you put both majors that you applied for or only your first choice or does it matter?

@SatanFlower69 Thanks! Good luck to you as well… I hope everything works out and you end up where you want to go :).

@uctransfer2020 I think we can ask anyone. A teacher, family friend, boss, etc. I only put my first choice major which was Cell Biology and I am probably going to finish the application later this week. Have you heard from any other schools yet? Btw congrats on this achievement!

Wow congrats! And no they don’t send to everyone. Davis has a BIG payout.

Does anyone know if the people who choose the recipients of the Regent’s scholarship read our UC applications as well as the scholarship application? Or do they only read the scholarship application?

It’s a different group as far as I know.

I got that email too!

For those got the email about regents how many of you tag’d Davis as well?

@cccstudent32 I TAG’d to UC Davis! I was actually surprised to get the invite because my GPA isn’t as high as others. Not expecting this for the rest of the UCs I applied to.

I got that email to. I have a 4.0 and applied as an Econ major. UC Davis is my second to last choice.

I received the same email as an intended psych major with a ~3.8 GPA. I am debating not spending time filling out the application however, as Davis is my last choice. Any thoughts? I also don’t really know who I would have write me a letter of recommendation.

@flyingpancakes00 I think its worth filling out. Worse case scenario Davis may end up your only choice and you don’t want to regret not pursuing the opportunity. Unless you already have acceptances in hand you prefer over Davis.

My son got the invite, he TAG’d UCD, and here are some things I know from other threads:

Some (most?) of the other schools, for sure UCB and UCLA, don’t send out Regent invites until after acceptance. While there’s never a guarantee of acceptance, Regents invite is pretty surely correlated with admission.

See this thread for more info… Regents has some really valuable benefits beyond the financial piece.

Berkeley doesn’t invite, they award.

Hey everyone, I’m a student looking to transfer to UC Davis in Fall 2020. This is my first post on this website because I have been sent the Regents Scholarship email but have run into some confusion.

The email says that I need to submit a General Application and then I will be able to submit an Undergraduate Scholarship Application and request my letters of recommendation.

Well, I submitted my General Application, but there is no sign of an Undergraduate Scholarship Application, let alone an option to request letters of recommendation.

I’m very confused because the email gives pretty explicit instructions that I followed, but I can’t seem to follow through.

Does anyone know why there is no option to submit my application? This Regents Scholarship would mean a lot to me.

@RabbitOTM I am little confused by your problem but it’s all on the same website you just fill out the first app which was like 3 simple contact info questions and then it gives u access to the scholarship application if i remember correctly

@cccstudent32 That’s exactly what I did. I filled out the quick contact info thing, clicked submit, it shows that I’ve submitted it, but after that I don’t see any option to fill out a scholarship application.

It even says “General Applications submitted: 1 of 1” and gives me an option to update it, but no other application. When I go to the opportunities page and search up Regents, it says there is no activity required.

I sent the UC Davis Undergraduate Scholarship Office a question, but I’m kinda running out of time. The deadline is March 8th for Letters of Recommendation.
