My daughter has received the honor program and scholarship offers from Fordham ($40,000+/year) and UC Davis ($7000-Rengents). Knowing the financial benefit, my question is which school could provide the better academic and social experiences for my daughter if her education target is the top-tier graduate schools in the business or pre-med major after the college?

Net cost after aid would be?

Medical school admissions depends highly on MCAT and GPA; the pre-med courses can be taken with any undergraduate major. MBA school admissions does not require any specific undergraduate major, but prefers to see good work experience after one’s bachelor’s degree.

So what her actual major may be can influence the decision.

Thanks for the advise. The cost is not my concern.

Comparing UC Davis and Fordham, any acadamic advantages one over other? How about GPA policy?

My S is a senior at Fordham’s b-school and is having a great experience there. He’s met wonderful friends, received a great and well-rounded education in small classes with professors who know him, enjoyed going into Manhattan etc. No school is perfect, but I can’t imagine my S could have had a better experience anywhere else. And he has already been accepted into an outstanding grad program at a top ranked school. Other friends have also got into excellent grad programs. He is not in the honors program but he has a few good friends who are. We’ve met them a number of times and it seems like they have all had wonderful experiences in the Fordham honors program – it sounds that they do a separate liberal arts core in small seminar type classes with some of the schools’ best professors and other outstanding students. I don’t know anything about UC-Davis to compare the two schools, but I’d seriously consider the opportunity at Fordham, especially with the large scholarship. If you have any questions about Fordham, feel free to PM me.

Thanks advise from Happy1. Can anyone from UC Davis share your experience?
