UC Davis, switching colleges on the Waitlist

Hello, I’m in need of some advice. Back in November when I applied to UC Davis, I applied to the College of Engineering for a Computer Science and Engineering major. Due to my ignorance, I unfortunately didn’t bother to put a second choice as I didn’t consider the other College that offered Computer Science (College of Letters and Sciences).

During the spring semester of my senior year I got the chance to intern as a web developer for a very small business in my area, and I’m loving the job, the designing, the programming. I lost interest in the engineering aspect of my initial major (CSE)

I’m not sure what to do, I wouldn’t mind being admitted for CSE instead of just CS, but CS would give me more flexibility. Should I mention this to my waitlist to my essay?

CS and CSE are equally competitive and UCD only considers alternate majors if they are in a different area of interest. You can mention you are willing to consider the CSE major but probably will not make a difference since there is an overlap in curriculum for both majors.
