UC Davis Transfer Chances

Hi, I’m a second year student at De Anza College in Cupertino, I have a 3.71 GPA, and by the end of the Spring quarter I will have completed IGETC. I am applying to Davis as a Managerial Economics major ( http://www.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=DAC&ria=UCD&ia=DAC&oia=UCD&aay=15-16&ay=15-16&dora=AG.MAN.ECON.B.S. ). Although I will have the IGETC complete, I won’t have many of the Major’s recommended courses. I will only get to finish with Math 1A, Econ 1 and 2, Acct 1A, 1B, and 1C, Cis 22A, and Spch 1. I’ve heard that because managerial economics isn’t a selective major, it is easier to get into (davis mostly looks at general gpa). What do you guys think my chances are for getting into Uc Davis, considering my 3.71 gpa, complete IGETC, and missing recommend classes? Also, how decisive do you think Personal Statements are for someone in my position? Thank for the time andI appreciate the help!

Also, I put my Alt Major as Economics, if that matters.

Did you TAG?

You may receive a conditional acceptance, to complete the remaining courses by the end of summer.

I believe Davis doesn’t read the PS except for scholarships and financial aid. But don’t slack off on it!

No I did not tag.

How often does Davis (or there uc’s for that matter) give conditional acceptances to compete courses in the summer? Because in my app it gives me an option to add summer courses.

I’ve heard the same about Davis and Personal Staements. Any idea why they don’t read them?

Thanks!

Hard to know but I’ve seen it for those on the edge. I believe everyone has the option to take courses during the summer.

I don’t recall why Davis was reported not to read PSs. Maybe @lindyk8 knows?

Hi @gman1996, everyone has the option to add summer courses because the UCs will consider (1) IGETC fulfillment, (2) optional courses with no connection to the major, or (3) recommended courses for the major, all of which may be completed in summer at the discretion of the UC.

(Note the word recommended for major coursework. Any** required** courses for the major should be completed by spring. Not getting those done by spring could put you in jeopardy.

Thanks for the help!
