@helloapple Makes sense honestly. More requirements mean more room for GPA drops and more complications with completing requirements in 2 years at the university

Don’t give up on the waitlist. I wrote a terrible, terrible essay for waitlist admissions a few years ago and still got in. Your chances are good.

@itsyaboiUCLA I saw the regents in the congrats letter part, second paragraph

@likeschowder do you mind sharing that letter ? I’m currently working on mine :o

Do you guys think it’s worth for me to appeal?
I know it might seem like a dumb and rash decision; especially with my 2.79 gpa, but I really thought I had a chance considering linguistics isn’t an impacted major. I also had my prereqs done and am currently taking the math class to finish IGETC. CCC transfer too. I at least expected to be waitlisted and not straight up rejected.
I want to appeal and mention that I went from a straight C student to a Dean’s List (I didn’t mention being on the DL on my app) student for the last 2 quarters and that I’m still taking classes at the moment and my gpa will continue to go higher (It’s 2.87 after winter quarter and will be even better after spring). I can also get reccomendation letters like they suggest.
Just want to know if I should, or am I being irrational?
Davis is my dream school and I really thought they’d give me a chance /-: Any input would be GREATLY appreciated. PM or replies, anything!!

@coolskeleton95 go for it, there’s nothing to lose!

@RaymondAlvaradoH

It’s embarrassing, but I wrote like a quasi-poem, with paragraphs which repeated as mantras. It was quite literally the most terrible piece of writing I’ve ever done…so don’t do that. Also, I was a starry-eyed English major obsessed with Kafka and Nabokov, so there’s that…

I don’t have it on me. I think I ate it after I wrote it.

@mavsp1 I’m a California community college student. Davis is actually only 2 hours away from where I live so I was really hoping to have it as my backup. What stings the most is that I received an email regarding Regents a while back from Davis but they placed me on the waitlist anyways :slight_smile:

Rejected :frowning:

Neurbiology
GPA 2.85
CCC transfer
IGETC complete
PreREQs: completed
EC’s and leadership positions & work experience to boot.

Congrats to everyone on their admissions!

@plzpaymytuition same boat. debating on appealing rn

@coolskeleton95 What do you have to lose, dude? Davis, in my experience, has been more understanding/empathetic and human-oriented than some of the other campuses, especially when it came to my admission. Give it a shot. Write a compelling appeal.

You miss 100% percent of the shots you don’t take.

I just turned in my letter, I just rote about how it’s the go to school for everyone in my city (I’m 40 mins away) because of the great academic opportunities and sense of community. Then I just talked about a research lab for cognitive science that I would love to be apart of because (insert their research & what they are aiming towards and how it will benefit me in the future and as a student) I hope it’s good enough!

I don’t see anything about the Regents scholarship on my acceptance letter, so that’s kind of a bummer. I’m hoping that they’re still trickling out decisions for it

@srafiq Congrats dude! Post updates.

@likeschowder Thanks man. I was just really blown away by the flat out rejection that I’m still trying to scrape together my confidence to appeal. Just feel like there are a lot more qualified candidates that also got rejected and that I don’t deserve to appeal with such a garbage gpa.

Does anyone know about Regents? It wasn’t due until 4/17 and I submitted mine on 4/11. My LOR was submitted on 4/15.

I don’t see it in the financial aid awards.

Am I overlooking it? If it’s not there is there a chance it will come out later or would you know if you recieved it in the acceptance letter?

@coolskeleton95 I keep thinking about what I could’ve done wrong, too. My personal statements were probably complete farts lol.

Davis is my first rejection but I kind of saw it coming, I didn’t have a good portion of pre reqs completed.

I have yet to hear from San Diego but I guess Ill be choosing from Riverside, Merced, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara and Irvine.

Most likely from SB or Irvine
