UC Davis transfer question. Fall/Winter.

2 Questions...

-Will UC Davis accept applications for the winter 2010 quarter in July 1-30th, 2009? There is no tag agreement for winter in my community college.

-I am a community college student applying to fall 09 this year. Lets say that I do not get accepted for fall 09 (gpa is not very high). If UCD is accepting the winter 2010 applications, can I still apply again with a higher gpa? (I have spring semester before July).

it depends if your school is in the TOP program (winter only). some schools are in the TAG and TOP program, which means that students can apply in the fall and winter. So go see an admissions counselor and ask them if you can do that.

I asked the counselor if they have a tag program for davis, he said they did not. That's why I am asking if I can just apply normal for winter 2010...

They didn't for this year, they might for 2010 but not likely.

I don't know if this is relevant to your situation or not. During Fall 2008 (in CSM at least), applicants who applied for Fall 2008 admission were not eligible for Winter 2009 TAG because they applied for Fall 2008 already. It is a 50/50 situation because you will not know whether the CCC provides winter TAG until late December. I also emailed the UCD's TAG advisor (found his email on UCD's website), and inquired him about winter 2010 TAG. He said it is too soon to tell and won't know until January. I am wondering this, too, because I am looking forward to the winter 2010 TAG as well.

sutekidane, thanks for your info, I am really hoping that UCD will have a winter tag option for the 2010.

Does anyone still know if you can still apply REGULARLY without the tag contract for UCD winter 2010? That is my main question...

Well what happened for the winter 2009 was that there was no budget passed for California at the time. Previously, it was planned that they would have TAG and admission for winter 2009. However, California ran into some budget problems and there were possible cuts in the UC system. Therefore, to avoid any possible problems most of the UCs did not admit any more winter 2009 applications or TAGs. The reason why they said its too early to tell is that with the economic crisis, the UCs will have to admit less because of their budget.

Otherwise, hopefully people can apply for winter 2010.

Can a ucd representative chime in on this?

We won't know for sure if we will be accepting application for Winter 2010 until sometime in June, 2009. Please check back with our campus early July to determine if we will be accepting applications. Most likely we will not be accepting applications for the Winter 2009 term; unless the student as an approved TAG agreement.

Thanks UCD, looks like I have a decision to make... Either to apply right now for fall 09 or wait and pray for UCD to open up winter 2010 applications... Decisions... decisions...

I would suggest applying right now and later

I would, but if a tag program comes out for the winter, I cannot sign up for that because my application is already in process... (This is, if I don't get in for fall.)

can you normally apply for winter quarter 2011 at ucd?

Most likely we will not be accepting applications for the winter 2011 term however, these decisions can change so please check back late June 2010 to determine if we will be accepting applications.
