I’ve been admitted to both for Biological Sciences (Hoping to go to grad school for PhD, get some work experience, pick up an MBA and try biotech entrepreneurship) and am having some difficulty deciding between them. I’ve read up on the differences between them but am really not picky about the social life, cost of living, or recreational activities. If anyone has any academic information that might help me pick one I’d appreciate it. If one school has different or more specialized lab facilities for molecular/biochem or better internship opportunity in those fields let me know.
Given your aspirations you will probably want to participate in an undergraduate research project. UCSB has a College of Creative Studies that allows you to spend time as an undergraduate doing graduate level research (https://ccs.ucsb.edu/biology). They also have a stem cell research program ( https://www.stemcell.ucsb.edu/) and state of the art brain sciences research (http://www.bic.ucsb.edu/). UCSB also has a class for entrepreneurship: http://www.tmp.ucsb.edu/academics/courses/undergrad/entrepreneurship. Not familiar with the specialty programs at UCD, but they probably have good ones too. Really you should just go on the web sites for both campuses and read up on the individual faculty to find the areas of research you find most interesting. Also check the reddit sites for each campus as you will get more feedback from current students. Can’t really go wrong with either campus, congratulations on your acceptances!
Thanks, I’ll look into specific research areas.
