I was accepted into both UCD and UCSB and I’m now wondering about how they compare in terms of academics (i.e. courses and majors offered). Anyone have some insight?

Just to clarify, I am interested in studying the humanities. No science or engineering for me. : )

What aspect of humanities?

Both schools are good, and probably have similar course offerings. But in terms of overall academic reputation, Davis wins.

I’m not sure exactly what I want to study, but I am interested in Spanish and considering being an English major so that I get a very broad base of knowledge. Good study abroad programs are also important to me. I am drawn to Davis for their textile and fashion program, but I’m not interested in switcing the college that I applied to (letters and science) to agriculture.

Switching majors into a non-impacted area is not a big deal. If you want to study Spanish and or English I think you could be happy at either school. Both have study abroad opportunities.

Thank you collegemom for your time and good advice!

You are very welcome! :)

im not going to sit here and tell you about academics, cause Davis is obviosusly better, but you will get one hell of a college experience at SB.
