Idk if I'm doing Software or electrxal engineering yet but...

Which school is better for these majors? I know that cal poly has the 4 + 1 BS/MS program And the graduates usually make alot of money after getting their MS. I know of people who start at like 100K after cal polys five year program. However it has always been my dream to go to the university of illinois for grad school. I got in for undergrad but it's overly expensive. I just wanted to know which school would look better to UIUC and other top 5 grad programs when I graduate?

Both are fine for engineering but I think UC Davis is one of the more respected UC’s.
Davis is superior to all UC’s except Berkeley and Los Angeles.

The real question is whether the cost difference between Cal Poly SLO and Davis is worth the education difference ? Can you afford both school without loans ? I would go with Davis if you can.

yeah we can definately afford it… The only reason im not going to uiuc tho is because thats gonna be about 50k a year for my major… which we could afford but thats just not worth it.

Go with Davis. Much better and goes head to head with UCLA>

Either school is fine. Engineering programs are very similar because of ABET acreditation, which requires the same material be covered. These 2 schools are similar in reputation, reputation differences being much flatter for engineering programs than for liberal-arts. If you look at who recruits at both schools you’ll see its pretty much the same, so employers view the schools as similar. What will matter most to your future is not the name on the diploma but what you do in school; GPA primarily, and then whether you had internship(s).
