UC Davis vs Cal Sate Long Beach

I'm wondering about these schools and having a difficult time deciding which school to transfer to from a CCC.
Which school is better for environmental science majors?

Is UC Davis harder to get into than CSULB because of it being a UC or not because of CSULB being impacted in almost everything?

Is there anything to do in UC Davis? Since I currently live in LA and am wondering how the transition of having so much to do is compared to moving up to an area like Davis.

Pros and Cons of each regarding location, faculty, student life, academics, almost everything etc.

The reasons I'm debating these schools are because CSULB is cheaper, I'd be able to be close to my dog, and it's in southern California with all the beaches and attractions. As for going to UC Davis, I don't mind being away from family (except for my dog), it's a UC so it's more prestigious, it'd be a good experience being far from family, and because I think going to a UC will help get a job easier than going to a CSU. Please discuss.

Davis would almost definitely be harder to get accepted to, but it’s probably got a better environmental science major (Davis has an entire college dedicated to agriculture and environmental sciences). The campus is very nice, and the town is pleasant, but it’s definitely not a beach environment.

Probably Davis, there are tons of asphalt at CSULB, not good for the environment, nor for environmental science.

UC Davis definitely. CSULB only offers 1 Environmental major: Environmental Science and Policy. UC Davis offers 7 majors which include: Environmental Science and Policy, Enironmental Science and Management, Environmental Toxicology, Ecology,Evolution and Biodiversity, Ecological Restoration and Management, Wildlife, Fish and Biology, Atmospheric Sciences. There is a great flexibility in the majors, so you should be able to find something you would like. My older son is an ESM major which has another 6 emphasis of study he can pursue. There are many internships and volunteer activities available plus you have a beautiful green campus all around.

UC Davis is a quaint small town and there are the usual activities you find associated with a college town. Sacramento is 20 minutes away and they have a daily shuttle from campus to Berkley. SF and Tahoe are within a few hours.
