UC Davis vs SJSU CS major

I am admitted to Computer Science major in both SJSU and UC Davis. I am local to Bay area and would be a commuter to SJSU. Trying to get inputs on why UC Davis is more compelling than SJSU for CS. I am also waitlisted a Cal Poly SLO for CS. Thanks

I’ll try…
College town, college experience, growth& independence
Not having to commute in the Bay Area :yum:
CS is very employable regardless of where you graduate from
Check out class sizes? Attrition?

Commuting to SJSU might not give you the college experience you want but it will certainly be cheaper than living away from home and attending UC Davis.

Main factor is quality of education and research/internship opportunities. Not worried about commute Vs living in a dorm. Thanks

UCD will have more research activity. Being near SJSU will make it easier to get to interviews at the numerous area employers for internships and post-graduation jobs.

Net price at each and how much does that matter?

Check out the career centers for each campus and you will find similar employers that recruit from each campus.

Have you compared the 2 school CS curriculum’s?

Commuting will cut into your study time and possible time for research so living on-campus at UCD does have benefits.

No bad choice, it is just are you will to spend for your degree.

Thanks Gumbymom and all. I am not really worried about commute. I live 10 mins away from SJSU campus.

Don’t you want to try something else, if you live 10mn away?
Just curious - some students want independence, others would rather stay at home and postpone their “launch”.

Of those three, I’d choose Cal Poly if you get off the waiting list.

Where did you end up going? My son has gotten into SJSU CS for this year.

SJSU CS and love it. Great curriculum and experience at SJSU.
