Hiii! So i got into the college of letters and science at Cal as a political science major, and at Davis too but at Davis i got into their honors program. I have no idea what to do because both schools are amazing but everyone tells me that Berkeley is the better choice. HELLLP
Congrats! Both are excellent don’t worry about choosing the wrong school, there isn’t one.
Tour both schools. really understand the perks that come with the Honors offer and follow your heart.
What do you want to do as a PoliSci major? That’ll determine if you should go for the brandname of Berkeley or not. Also look at the classes Davis offers and compare them to Berkeley’s offering - berkeley likely has a larger offering, but if Davis has the ones you want you won’t miss out.
Hi, two things. One big thing as a polysci that could make or break is connection to the capital. Being close to Sacramento allows for super easy access to campaigns and the like. Having an internship in politics will be a huge boost. However, if you are looking at activism, right now Berkeley is the place to be with all the protesting that happens there. Second, the honors program means you will get any class you want, period. So that’s an option as well. In terms of what you’ll learn, it’ll be the same at both schools. Political Science doesn’t change much.
Thank you @NCalRent ! I really fell in love with Davis but Cal is rated high and @Autumnal I think I might pursue a law degree but I am still thinking about it.
Law schools are looking for GPA and LSAT and to some degree experience. They won’t discriminate applicants from UCB vs UCLA vs UCD.
Go to the school you think you will excel at. Sounds to me like that’s UCD.
