Which one is harder to get into?

out of state.

Which one is harder to get into?

out of state.

I'd say Davis.

I'd imagine it's about the same, but it might also depend on the major you're applying for.

If you think it matters, the acceptance rates are Davis 58% and Irvine 55.4%.

Irvine
Fall 2006: 59.1%
Fall 2007: 55.4%

Net Change: -3.7%

Davis
Fall 2006: 68.0%
Fall 2007: 58.2%

Net Change: -9.8%

Based on those figures, I'm guessing that Davis and Irvine will be approximately the same next year in terms of acceptance rates.

Irvine is harder to get into and is slightly better than Davis in terms of ranking. But as someone said earlier, it also depends on the program you're interested in.

...and yet although Irvine has higher rankings, virtually everybody I've talked to sees Davis as a more prestigious school...

I'm not sure about prestige, but I like Davis a lot more. It's more community like where Irvine is a huge city.

which business school is easier to get into, i guess that is my real question?

thanks.

I think Irvine and Davis are pretty comparable in terms of business programs, Irvine might be slightly more competitive.

Irvine is more math orientated

BA

For graduate school (the only true business programs currently at either school) UCD is ranked in the top 50, UCI is not. For undergraduate UCD has both a BA in economics and a BS in managerial economics. I believe presently UCI offers a BA in business economics. UCI will have an undergraduate business degree (I think starting in 2008) but students accepted into the university prior to the programs inception will not be able to switch into the new business degree program.

Just in case you were wondering where collegemom16 got that info: Davis is 46, Irvine is unranked. But keep in mind those are graduate school rankings, not undergraduate.

Davis doesn't have a business ba

Correction: Davis doesn't have major in Business, but we do have majors in Managerial Economics and Economics. Managerial Economics is essentially a business BA. From UC Davis website:

"The managerial economics major at UC Davis goes beyond the limits of traditional economics and business majors, blending a thorough grounding in economic theory with business knowledge and applications. You will specialize in at least one of three options: managerial economics, which focuses on evaluating, financing and managing business activities; environmental and resource economics, which focuses on issues related to use of resources and environmental quality; or agricultural economics, which focuses on the business aspects of producing and marketing foods and fibers. The real-world focus of this major provides ideal preparation for transition into the business world or to postgraduate business administration programs."

It's essentially a business degree...

how about pre-med/biology....uci/ucd???

they're pretty much similar, though UCD might be a lil better.

UCI is way better in the pre-med/ Biology department.
