UC Davis VS UC Irvine

research? what does that have anything to do with picking the right college....

Research is important since UC is founded on research. Many would say that research is more important than teaching (hence the reason why some people CSU's teach students better than UCs at times, because they don't dabble in research).

But seriously, nobody chooses which school is better purely based on state funding of research. We can go back and forth on research, going to nobel prize winners, break throughs, types of research, and the like.

The fact is picking the right college is a personal decision, which is why we have over seven pages of debate over it. It's like picking a new car. One would say they like the styles of a porsche over the speed of a dodge viper or the comfort of a Mercedez Benz S500, all of which are priced around 80,000-90,000. Better campus? Stronger Academics? Campus life? Only you can decide that for yourself.

Citan - I just want to point out that UCD is actually ranked 11th in the nation. You might've have not heard of the error but I went to the Welcome Day today and that is what the Vice Chancellor said :/

I seriously don't see why so many people hate UCI. Not any of the arguments are convincing anyway. I just feel like those who are negative about UCI have some sort of personal problem with it.

Did some Civic take your parking spot while you were visiting? :(

no, i don't hate UCI. but i do hate USNews.

however, i was trying to make a point that UCD, given the fact that they get

more funding, is better equipped as a research institution. i DO NOT hate

UCI -- i mean, they offered me a nice scholarship whereas Davis didn't.

I'm not really into this to hate on UCI. UCI's a great school. I just prefer Davis. The main reason I post in here is to inform potential students of how great UC Davis is. By no means am I saying that UCI is bad at all.

When I say UCD is a growth campus, I don't mean to say that UCI isn't.

When I say that UCD is X, I don't mean to say that UCI isn't X.

See how nice UCI is? That's wonderful! :)

Hey heymanooh you have a foul mouth :(

"I'm not really into this to hate on UCI. UCI's a great school. I just prefer Davis. The main reason I post in here is to inform potential students of how great UC Davis is. By no means am I saying that UCI is bad at all."

This is exactly how I feel except for UCI instead of UCD. A little sanity at last. Seriously this thread has gotten ridiculous. I can't believe that someone cited random posts from anteaterforum that don't even have anything to do with the school to say how bad UCI is...

9 more days left!!!
omg...so hard to decide....

heymanooh1: you should get the CC award for the most asinine and irrelevant post ever. good job. I really thought noone could do this...

Everyone--Don't feed the troll, it's pointless.

Seriously. Did this guy join CC solely to bash UCI and make sweeping generalizations about its students? How pathetic.

I think that since this forum censors profanity for a reason and you putting it in your posts anyway is some sort of violation of this forum. You are rude and have a foul mouth.

i just visited uci today and uc davis a week ago..IMO i think uci's campus is better than uc davis'..but the students who go there look about the same..can't really judge the social atmosphere becuz i looked at both colleges during weekends.

doraemon -

Revelle's GE is pretty heavy on like humanities courses and stuff. So, a fair amount of reading and writing papers and whatnot, I'd imagine. It's considered to be the most prestigious, though, and was also the first college at UCSD.

so...this forum has finally slowed down but i still dont know which one to choose
ah!!!
