UC Davis vs. UC San Diego?

Hi all! I'm planning on transferring to university next year, and I need some help with my choices. The three schools I'm focusing on are UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and UC San Diego. I really want to go to UC San Diego, but my parents don't want me to. They're open to the idea, but they'd rather see me go to UCD. However, I really don't want to go to UCD, mainly because I live only 30 minutes away and I really want a change of scenery. I visited San Diego a couple months ago and I really loved the area and the campus. Can I get some good reasons for wanting to go to UCSD? My parents don't really seem to care about the fact that I just don't want to live in Davis and that I love San Diego. Things involving the academics would be great! I want to double-major in biology and political science, if that helps.

This thread should really be titled my parents choice UC vs. MY choice UC! Between now and next year, visit San Diego with you parents again and let them know how you feel about the environment. Both schools have strong academics, but another big factor in deciding colleges is where you feel you’ll be happiest. And you said that they’re “open to the idea,” so you’ve got that going for you! Also, I suggest you TAG with UCSD if you can, just to have that security
GOOD LUCK! =]

Well, UCSD is excellent in both biology and polisci. Also, it might be a really nice change of pace if you’re from Sactown, the beach is literally right across the way (it’s blacks,as a surfer I can attest to its awsomeness), plus La Jolla is such a nice area. Plus, do you really want to be 30 minutes away from your parents? I wouldn’t, it’s college, plus it’s a pretty doable drive back if you get homesick but ur parents deff won’t be dropping in.

Just pick UCSD. It’s YOUR choice, not your parents’.
