I am currently a first year undergrad at UCSD and applied for transfer to UC Davis at teh beginning of the year becuase i did not like it here in ucsd. I got accepted to both school and is deciding wheter i still want to go to UC Davis anymore. The life at ucsd isn't that bad, but i want to go to uc davis so badly because i want to be closer to home. Is this a good idea?

If that's what floats your boat, go for it. Not like you're transferring from Cal Tech to ITT Tech or anything - UCSD and UCD are largely equivalent institutions and there is no reason to be miserable at one if you'd rather be at the other due to non-academic concerns.

tmn:
why didn't you like ucsd..was it just because it was too far from home?

My son is finishing at UCSD. While the social life is not the best, it has wonderful programs in the sciences. If that's your interest it will offer more opportunities than Davis.

Good move, the social scene at Davis is so much better and it's a real college town.

I am in a similar situation torn between the only 2 schools I got into UCD/UCSD. I am a genetics major and was considering going to davis. I got into Thurgood Marshall College. I have a couple of Qs.

Does it matter which college you get into in UCSD? are all colleges the same no matter what your major ? where would I get more academics ( more research time, good TAs, I hope)?

Anyone who has attended UCSD or UC davis please tell me. :)
