UC Davis Waitlist 2021

I don’t think there is already a thread for this? Is anyone else on the UC Davis waitlist and accepting that position? Has anyone gotten off the waitlist yet or do you know when? They said they’ll let us know before May 1 the switched to June 1.

I find it interesting that appeal decisions are coming out before wait list notification. Good luck to all on the wait list.

I just SIR’d to UC Riverside but I’m really hoping to be taken off the UC Davis Waitlist. My UC GPA is a 3.3 so I was super blessed to be waitlisted. Some people heard back from the waitlist during the first week of May last year, so I hope they do they same this year! Good luck to everybody

@lkg4answers do you think it’s a good or bad sign for those on the waitlist that appeal decisions came out early?

@jjn1999 I don’t know as this is the first time I’ve been through this process. I’m wondering if the logic is that the wait list is for people who should have gotten in to begin with but there was something missing or not included on their application. This is not a fact, just me trying to guess a possible rationale for the order in which they do things.

any updates on whether they’ve started releasing waitlist decisions?

I am waiting too since I was waitlisted for biology. Let me know if anything changes for any of you!

Im on the same boat as you guys. From what I read they send out notifications in increments, so the first wave of offers will be sent out may 5th. Did you guys have to write the essay or not?

Wasn’t the essay required from everyone?

@Lucifer2021 where do you see the first wave of acceptances will be sent out the 5th?

and @Jenner99 , after doing some research, (ive gone through many old forums) it appeared that some kids from 2012 just had an option to accept or reject the waitlist offer. I was assuming, Idk if theres some bifurcation between waitlist applicants.

@Lucifer2021 that link was from last year. do you think waitlists will most likely come out on the same date or around there? i’m so anxious…

Yes I do believe they will send it around may 5. This is how I see it happening, UC davis;s SIR deadline is may 2, or officially may 1, 11:59:59 pm, pdt. So these next couple of days UC davis will be drafting a list of whose first on the waitlist, friday I suspect, the first wave of admits will be sent out. These students (hopefully us) will have 7 days to accept it, or they will continue to go down the list. Im super anxious aswell. Theres a decent chance to get off the waitlist. I don’t know anything about you but, looking at the stats for the last couple of years Davis has actually used quite a bit of its waitlist. I’ve read stats where they offered 9,000 waitlist spots, 2700 people accepted the offer and 2000 people got in.So effectively, roughly 76% of people got in :). I hope this year there’s no crazy circumstance that makes tons of people accept the offer. I’ll try and find the link later.

I heard that they release the decisions by the colleges , for example: college of letters and sciences

Does anyone know which college releases their decisions first? I heard the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is the first to release, but I’m not sure. Can anyone else confirm?

Hey guys, waitlistee from last year here.
I don’t think you guys should necessarily base acceptance rates on data from years’ previous because it varies greatly from year to year. For example, in 2014 out of 2,177 opt-ins, there were only 8 admits, but last year there were a lot more. (Source: https://■■■■■■■■■■■■/home/fall-2014-last-year-frosh-waitlist-appeal-cancellation-numbers)
Last year, waitlist acceptances were sent out from May 5th to around the end of June (20th). Batches appear to go from college to college, but it may change from year to year as well. I was a Bio major who got off the waitlist on May 5th, and last year it seemed CS majors were last (late June).

Also, feel free to call the admissions office for more information, but last year they gave differing information to every person who called, so they ironically might not be the most reliable source of information.

thanks

anxiety levels increase

does anyone know when the undeclared majors are notified?

I appealed and was admitted. Perhaps they look at those first because some students have excruciating circumstances of why they didn’t apply on time, like their parent is very sick and so on. Best of luck!
