I'm going on Saturday! :) Can't wait to see Davis for the first time.

This is just a reminder, if you haven't done so already, to RSVP for either Friday April 6 and 13 for freshman or Friday April 27 for transfer students. Please visit http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/welcome to RSVP.

The Saturday April 7 event is over capacity. :(

I RSVP'd for the 6th. Hopefully the welcome will convince my friend to go to Davis instead of UCSD...

My dad and I are going tomorrow. I've already sent in my SIR to UCD. We will meet my brother, who is a JR at UCD, for lunch. I'm looking forward to seeing what the dorms look like.

the only day i can make is saturday and now its full!! =[

what happens if i just show up and walk around myself..?

I'm going to the saturday one... what time do you guys would be the best? As in, less crowds? I live about 2 hours away.

I'm going to the one on April 13th. :D

i'm going to tomorrow's welcome day.

right now i'm pretty set on going to UCI but i want to keep my options open and i want to check davis out.

I'm going Friday (today). :)

Already pretty set on UCD.

I would highly advise taking a tour of campus, because if you just wander around you'll miss a lot!

I got to campus this morning at 8:30 am & didn't realize it the welcome week thing was today until I was trying to find a parking space. Urrg. I had to park all the way on the 5th floor of the West Entry parking structure & was lucky to even get a spot at all. At 8:30 am!?! Insanity.. I normally get a spot on the 3rd floor without a problem at that time.

lol @ pearl.

I just got back. The campus is massive... soo much walking. But I love it there. I'm gonna have a tough time deciding.

Hey cbf88, about how many people do you estimate showed up to the UC Davis Welcome event today? Was it really crowded?

Also, was it easy to get tickets to the walking tours?

It's hard for me to estimate how many people showed up since they stagger all the tours. I arrived at 9:45am and finished by 2pm, but there were still many people arriving even then.

It was easy getting tickets for everything. The time window for the welcome event is large enough that there's never a huge crowd of people at once.

With that said, though, the walking tours each had about 30 people in them, and I if I remember correctly there were about 6 tour groups at any one time.

I arrived at 12:00 and left at 4:00. Both of the tours were pretty informative and insightful; I recommend them. Campus was really awesome; it was really big and spacious and had nice grassy areas. Looked euphoric, the students just laying on the grass reading and typing. I was extremely surprised by all the trees in Davis; I kinda envisioned the place a little less shaded, but there are a ton of trees. Also a bazillion bikes, definitely need to buy a bike before I attend. Dorms looked OK; I toured Segundo. Kinda hot weather, it was in the mid 80s.

It wasn't crowded at all when I arrived. I'm sure the place will be mobbed tomorrow, though.

UCD is beautiful and doesn't resemble a huge marble laden business park like some other Universities. ;)
