yeah i got into both SB and Davis for engineering this fall (class of 08). I guess i was lucky..but it's really not that hard to get in. I think my essay helped me alot because i have crappy stats. So write a damn good essay!

How much does being selected for ELC help when it comes to admissions?
I've heard that it makes a big difference however I'm not sure... any help?

It helps a lot, more so depending on which school. I know schools like SB guaranteed admission to all ELC students this year.

Do you know of any schools that have guaranteed admissions with ELC this year?

merced does

irvine does

but seriously, if you have elc already, you would be getting in schools like UCLA CAL already. So why mid tier UCs.

thanks alot

wuts ELC.... HELP

eligibility local context

u get it if ur a california resident and a student in the top 4% of your class

Which is top 12.5% of all ca high school seniors (schools/seniorsthat participated at least)

ELC is the only type of class ranking that the UC's have

ELC is worth a ton
If you look at the point breakdown for the colleges you can see having ELC is worth an extra 1000 SAT points or a full extra point on your UC GPA

For UC Davis being ELC your chances of getting are 98%

You can look up the other %'s of the UC's , iposted the site a while ago

I do remember that with ELC the chances were above 55 % for each and without it the chances were below 20%

Go Davis!

bum p

Thanks Airforce, good information

I go to HS in Davis, I know quite a few people with 3.5s that gone in last year.

im applying there too

SAT: 1380
SAT II: Writing 670 Math IIC: 710 Latin: 720 Chemistry: 650
GPA: 4.34 W

dawgquelle, Is Davis your safety school? YOur stats look high.

yea. in case the HPS and other schools don't fare so well, i'm going to davis.
i applied to ucsd, ucb, ucla, uci for UCs because I figure it'd be worth it since 1) i'm cali resident 2) got decent test scores, high grades, lots of community service (soon to be over 300+ hours), some decent E.C.s 3) i spent time on 3 essays that I might as well send out to other UCs.

I know cousins who go to UCSD, UCI, UCD, and UCB. I've been to all but UCSD, and I like UCB's campus the best. I'm top 5% in my class taking toughest courses possible senior year total 6 APs.

Are you applying to any private schools?

yea harvard, princeton, stanford, usc, brown, and johns hopkins.

i think likely one for east coast would be JHU cuz there hasnt been anyone that I know of in my school that is applying either than me so I might have a higher shot of getting in.
