niki doesnt want to jinx himself, let him do what he wants!

I don't like keeping my hopes up because if I do, I always end up kicking myself in the behind for years on end. If I don't get in, I will feel like all of my sweat and hardwork has not paid off.

I'm just happy that I'm done with my Winter Session class. Sigh

I have this strange feeling in my gut that I'm only getting into UCR.

How's that for application paranoia?

CardinalFocused, don't be so hard on yourself...ahem.

Hahha don't worry cardinal, you'll get in!! and if not you can chill with me when my transfer attempt fails

hey cardinalfocused, what are your stats if you dont mind sharing?

i got a paper extension yesssssssssssssssssss life is great now

lol sweet!! i love when professors do that - push back a midterm or give extensions

my god yeah, and from my first semester at berkeley, i got the impression that it is a rare thing. whew!!

sigh...I miss how highschool teachers use to grade on "effort" and not correctness.

eh... i hate that, mostly because i never put in any effort lol....

i've finally found the trick to getting good grades in english - participate a lot in class discussions. I've always been a "B" essay writer but this quarter i've gotten A's on my last two papers and its not because i've spent more time on them!!

lol Hobo! That's one of the two discoveries I made as well on how to get better grades on english papers! It's almost like if you participate a lot in class and know what you're talking about, the proffesor would be more inclinded to grade you better since it's obvious you know your stuff.

Participating in class is really a good thing... you learn more by asking questions or by discussing and sharing your ideas in a relevant way of course and this is one elements of what i called "proactive learning theory."

i am definitely going to do that this semester. last semester, i didn't really participate in sections or in office hours. i got out wth all A's anyway, but i think going to office hours and participating in sections will reduce the stress i have bigtime.

speaking of being inclined to grade better when you participate in class, i hvae personal experience with that. my boyfriend participated a lot in psychology 167 (the class i met him in last semester) and the professor obviously liked that because in the beginning of every class, the prof would say " i thought about the point kevin brought up in the last class, and ____." so anyway, came time for a project that was worth a good chunk of our grade, and my bf spent very little time on it, and he didn't even follow the guidelines. he ended up getting an A- on it, while I, who spent a lot of time on it and also followed the guidelines down to every last detail got a B+ on it. and we both agreed that it was probably because the prof saw that he always kept up with the reading and contributed a lot to the class because if it was Joe Schmoe, that A- would have been a C+

hmmm...i never had this experience (probably cuz most of my profs don't grade!)

on the other hand, in the classes where the prof did grade, discussion was the only type of class (like German lit)....those classes were nice (~14ppl)...

i'm so glad i'm done with english.

cardinal hasn't done his countdown for awhile has he? or is my comp just being stupid again

i am interested in seeing all of you get in! :)

when are you all supposed to find out? i set up a po box today especially for college stuff since i am in the process of moving.

around april-may is when most acceptances start coming out if i'm not mistaken.

UCLA and UCB (80 Days to go)...

UCSB and UCSD (33 days to go)...

Nah, your computer is fine Calgirl. I've been slacking because spring sem just started and I've been looking for a job...!
