In the case of UCSD a lot also depends what college you apply to. I know some (Revelle is appearently the hardest) are harder than others to get into.

Do you guys know if the TAG option is that popular amongst those who are interested in attending UCSD? I'd much rather do IGETC where I have the freedom to take whatever classes interest me which will boost my incentive to do receive betters grades than having to take a specific course of classes. Additionally, with IGETC you are able to apply to more than just one UC.

I believe many choose a college where the req courses for that college is relatively low or non-existent. Especially for transfers where they are expected to take additonaly courses AFTER they transfer would could further set them back from graduating than initially expected.

To be honest I picked the UCSD colleges totally at random. :)

I got offered the Regents Scholarship at UCLA, this means I'm in right?

Yes it does. Congratulations!!!

wowzers. What are your stats UCBnatalie

I would say at my college about 70+ percent are doing a Tag agreement w/ UCSD and/or the transfer agreement w/ SDSU (you only need a 2.0 to guarantee sdsu). Many of these people are also doing igetc, so it's not too hard to do them at the same time, but the science and foreign language requirements suck for TAG, plus everything has to be a sequence. My school just this year started the TAP to UCLA, so if I get in I'll be the first TAP student. The problem is that since it's so new I wasn't really prepared for TAP and didn't know you have to complete courses for BOTH your first choice majors so I had to change my schedule this semester last minute.

I would assume that UCBnatalie had a 4.0. I think UCLA says only transfers with 4.0s will be considered.

I am at Berkeley right now and I have a 3.96... I am involved in a couple of clubs as well, which probably helped?

Wow, CAL --> UCLA. Isn't that sort of a downgrade? lol.

When were you notified of the Regents Scholarship natalie?

I know nikkei325i, I am still trying to decide whether to go to UCLA... I'm from LA and my family lives there and I got all depressed/homesick last semester which is why I applied to UCLA in the first place. Then, this semester has been going really well and I decided to stay at Berkeley, then they throw this in my face!! Too hard to decide! I was notified on Sat.

go with LA!! =)

Wow to be quite honest ucbnatalie, I am jealous of your situation!!! HAHA, I can only imagine what its like to have UCB as the backup plan and UCLA with regents scholarship as another choice...Kudos to your hard work =]

UCLA isn't really that much of a downgrade. I would choose ucla over ucb 9 times out of 10. Congratulations by the way!!!!

UCBgirl congrats! however thats one less seat for us :[

yeah quite a cool accomplishment, natalie :) btw, what major are you at ucb? i go there

UCBnatalie what is your major.

i'm a transfer applicant from a cc and i got the regents consideration letter also. did my chances for admission suddenly get better?

i think a regents letter means your in. congratulations.
