Drab, you were a transfer student?

Nice! I love the new countdown Gabe! I cannot wait to hear from UCI!

No. That might explain it.

yeah, freshmen find out earlier....

LOL! CardinalFocused, don't worry about it! Your countdown is just as good.

Gabe, I think UCI notifies transfer of their status April 1st-April 30th. this sucks. here is a link, look under important dates.http://www.admissions.uci.edu/

Ha, Cardinal, you were the pioneer, and you will be honored for starting this immense thread. I just wanted to complement your work.

"If you say so. I haven't seen any statistics showing it."

Look at the acceptance rate. It's no secret.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:University_of_California,_Riverside
http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/artics/ELC/SURVEYS/UCR_sur.htm
(^ that has a stat for engeneering majors near the bottom, look at transfer gpa's)

"For UCSD, you are admitted without regard to major (based on campuswide criteria). For the selective majors, engineering for instance, you are then routed to the engineering department for acceptance into the major. If they decline you, then you go into a different major."

So now I don't see the point of signing up for TAG then? If the department does not accept you .. meaning you have to change your major? Therefore I rather take some easy classes and get a good grade than 2 years of Foreign Language . I'm just worry because I'll be taking Cal, English 203 and science courses next semester .. if TAG doesn't help then I wouldn't want to take it .. since Foreign Lang class is a 5 units class .. that would be too much for me to handle .. Thanks Gab ..

You are really helpful ... I really appreciate it ...

The dates I used are the official ones given to counselors, etc. There is obviously a chance that they say March 1 "decisions begin," when in reality they get going later.

Also see this:
http://www.admissions.uci.edu/notification.html

wow, if we're getting this much of a surge in posts just for UCR decisions...I can only imagine what its going to be like on the eve of UCLA or Cal notification dates.

"So now I don't see the point of signing up for TAG then..."

There's an obvious reason for signing up for TAG. You can get admitted with only a 2.8, as opposed to like a 3.4.

you can count on me to post whore.

"There's an obvious reason for signing up for TAG. You can get admitted with only a 2.8, as opposed to like a 3.4."

Yeah but I see little blues point. What good is it if you can't get the major you want or have to spend another year doing the prereqs for another major.

"wow, if we're getting this much of a surge in posts just for UCR decisions...I can only imagine what its going to be like on the eve of UCLA or Cal notification dates."

Yeah it's gonna be insane!

"wow, if we're getting this much of a surge in posts just for UCR decisions...I can only imagine what its going to be like on the eve of UCLA or Cal notification dates."

Seriously. It is going to be similar to the day when we had to turn in our UC applications.

"It is going to be similar to the day when we had to turn in our UC applications."

I bet it will be bigger; we'll get a ton of people who come in and post once or twice and never come back.

Ya - your major is what you want to do .. if they ask you to change your major .. the chance of getting accepted into another major wouldn't be too high either .. trying to do something that's not your passion not going to get you any good at the end ..

You have to declare your major by the end of the first term you are at UCSD.

Here's the info for UCSD:

San Diego

Students [are] admitted to [the] campus based on campuswide selection criteria.

Exception: Students applying to oversubscribed majors (Engineering) are admitted to campus, then sent to department to be screened for admission to major.

[Students] must select [an] alternate major.

If [students are] not selected for [their] 1st choice, [they] will get [their] alternate if not impacted.

If no viable alternate, [students] will admit undeclared (2% of transfers).

Major must be declared by end of 1st quarter.
