anyone here still awake?????
k, i just wanna share my disappointment with anyone whos still awake or not awake(basically everyone), that i just realized that i didnt finish my major prerequisite.
:( T_T

Does anyone know if UCSB, UCD, or UCSD tries to announce admissions decisions the midnight of March 15th as UCR tries to do?

I'm just curious...I'm a bit disappointed in UCR as they made it seem that all decisions would be posted by midnight of March 1st. I just want to know if these three UCs try to adhere to a similar policy, and if so, how much of the applicant pool is usually notified on the said date?

According to last years thread UCSD didn't release admission decisions until on or about the 18th or 19th. Mid-march according to them doesn't mean exactly March 15th. The same goes, I would think, for UCSB and UCD.

Matt-although one or two of the websites may say"mid-march," without specifying a date, official UC materials say "March 15" for the schools listed as March 15 in the countdown. I assume that some of them will release at least a few decisions on March 15, while others may take some more time, just as we've seen with Irvine and Riverside. It won't necessarily be like last year, although there is certainly always a chance that they will delay ALL decisions past the initial date.

"Yes and no. I think people pull the race card way more often than people pull the P.C. card. Let's not get off on a tangent of racism."

Not this day and age. With Katrina (and the police beatings that went on afterward), Trent Lott, Robert Byrd, the deaths of Mrs. King and Richard Pryor, the feds ability to name random amercians as enemy combatants, the ports deal scandal, and the more prevalent notion of an acceptable type of racial profiling. If anything I don't think I've heard the race issue explored enough. On top of it's oil addiction America also has a race problem. There is a reason the academy chose Crash to win best film this year.

But like you said, lets not get off topic.

"This is more of a conversation about using humor to get a point across. Just because you didn't think my comments were humorous does not make it so. Nikkei thought it was, so that's debateable. I was coming from that standpoint whether or not you agree with it."

Regardless of whether anyone found it funny, it was still rude and insulting. You didn't soften the blow by using sarcasm, if anything you made it sting even more.

I agree that humor can be a great way to approach controversial issues, but that was not one of those times.
And I also have to admit it was cleverly written, but I'm sure there are far better uses for your wit than petty insults.

BTW, whats your major and which schools did you apply to?

I'm not going to get into this discussion as that I already see there is no point in arguing with you as we have VASTLY different views on the world at large. It will serve no purpose because neither of us will be swayed. I've learned this the hard way, so I'll just let it go.

You might have a leg to stand on if I aimed that at you, but I didn't. I don't subscribe to the "put yourself in his shoes" notion because we never truly know how someone else feels about it, only how we feel. I could play devil's advocate and say that he insulted our intelligence by giving such pithy comments on such complex topics, but I fear I may not be "humorous" enough. Seriously, it's ok every now and again to be satirical. It does not necessarily have to convey a "rude and insulting" overtone.

I applied to film production at UCLA/Texas. I applied to film studies at Cal, Irvine, and Santa Barbara. I applied to USC as a history major with a minor in screenwriting.
